On a side note, please give me a new FI in MG. I didn't get a good one so this update is about 4 days too late. Thanks in advance.

I hope WifS realizes that the coach hiring process is a non-issue now except for FI. By addressing the "shortage" so that everyone can get an 80 FI, that will no longer be an issue.

As an example, I hired my MG PC(84) on the last cycle because I knew I was getting an 80+. No need to bid up.

There actually was a shortage in a few worlds.

Specifically where 22 franchises needed a fielding instructor but only 20 were available.

May I point out that someone mentioned that there was one qualified SS in MG who actually knew which end of the bat to hold at the plate?

By this reasoning, shouldn't you be generating SS who can hit? And don't get me started on pitching.

Wow.... I have never seen a shortage like that.

I hope that the new FIs are going to be at the bottom end (50-something... not 70-something).

And what would be the harm in hiring the best Fielding IQ AAA coach, anyway?

There was a pretty sad pool of Fielding Instructors to choose from in American Pastime. If you didn't spend $4 million you ended up with a FI with a fielding rating of less than 60.

Does nobody remember Season 1?
2/10/2010 3:28 PM
Nobody knew what the ratings meant in Season 1, so what difference did it make?

I guess what I'm saying is "If everyone is going to get a high quality coach, why have coaches?"

If you want a SS who can hit, you pay for him because there may only be three. If you want a coach who can coach, you pay for him. Sort of the purpose of budgets and bidding.

Though Mike may fail to realize it, it really isn't whining when there are less total fielding instructors than open positions. Fully half of the GAP world now employs fielding instructors with FI ratings of <= 55, with two of them having to hire AAA bench coaches as fielding instructors. Of course everyone shouldn't have an 85+ fielding instructor, but seems like every ML team should be able to hire someone who actually did the job for a living. At least understand the issue before ******** about it.

I'm not looking for "high quality" coaches for all. I do believe that there should be enough friggin FI coaches so that I can hire one who actually does that for a living.

Mike realizes this: If I want something, I pay for it. I don't cry until someone makes more of them for me.

I don't really give a flying rip about GAP. I hope no one hired a FI for a BC. OH LOOK!! Two coaches hired 80+ FI as ML bench coaches. Don't create your problem and beg WifS to fix it.

which is why my 59 FI for $500K is a steal!!!

Speaking of GAP, compare S1 to S15. The middle/bottom of your FI are the same. The top is the ONLY difference. What's your problem again? You don't want "high quality" coaches? Seems like you've got a lot more "high quality" now than you had in the past.
