A- loyalty, can’t move up Topic

I want to move up to a D1 school and I have A- loyalty but I've been rejected twice because of loyalty concerns even though I am "qualified". I thought A- is what you needed to move up. My applications were in relatively tougher conferences. Do I need to try a lesser conference? How low?

No, in my experience A- isn't enough. One more year at D2 and you'll be fine.

Weak sauce, toysboys is clearly ready for the move up to D1. I thought the admins of WIS introduced the reducing reward points to encourage coaches to move up to D1 as quickly as possible. Yet, a highly successful coach can't get a promotion to D1 on schools he is qualified for with a A- loyalty rating? I understand toysboys losing out on a job with a coach with a similar resume even a little less successful, yet more loyal. But in the end I would think that schools should take into account a coach's reputation as well as his loyalty on atleast an even level of importance.

Its not that he can't get a job, its that he can't get the job he wants. If he set his sights a little lower he would be just fine. This is the same problem I am having right now, is it better to move up to DI right away, even to a lesser school, or to stayt and wait for a better job. I think, especially with his A- Loyalty, he is better to wait, otherwise it will drop even further down and it will take 5-6 season to have a chance to move up even higher.

i don't think it will take 5-6 seasons, you don't get much of a loyalty hit for jumping to d1 from d2. the killer is moving around within a division.

I've been rejected a total of 4 times in Wooden. Twice in the Ivy, one of them being a longshot, which I've never gotten a longshot anyways. Once in the Big West and once in the Horizon. All of the other three were rejected because of loyalty issues. The last was a D- school that hadn't had a human coach in a long time. I have a D3 title and am the reigning D2 champ. It is unrealistic to think that they wouldn't take me. Oh well, I was reaching pretty low, so it's probably better that I got rejected so that I can take a decent team next season.

I thought once you get rejected on 4 job applications in one off season you automatically lose your current team and must choose a team when signups open up. If that is the case you really got hosed as your loyalty will take a huge hit, only making moving up even harder. Now on the other hand I wonder if you can just sign up with one of those job openings you were qualified for in D1 during new job signups. Keep us updated on how this pans out, thanks.

Not sure where you heard this, but like Tmac said, this isn't even close to being correct.......
