I have a pitcher that won't resign....says he wants to test he market. Has anyone ever tried to throw the pitcher until he gets hurt? Then maybe he'll have a change of heart? I wouldn't do it but he is really hissing me off. :-)

Intentionally throwing an overly fatigued pitcher out there for any reason is a good way to get yourself removed from a world.

But for that reason it is funny.

My first reaction is "Send him to rookie league and pitch him every day" since no one cares about rookie league results. May not even get noticed. But that does present a dilemma or two.

1. If he's injured and loses a bunch of ratings, is he worth re-signing? If the answer is "No", you haven't done yourself any favors.

2. Would this fall under "Willfully destroying a team?" Probably not but I think most commishes would frown upon it. And it's quite possible that you'll be accused of tanking.

3. You might cost yourself a comp pick or two.

The world he is in has no rules. They wouldn;t throw him out, they would probably encourage it.

Then he should do it, since it sounds like a ****** world and no one would give a damn anyway.

Alasondro Alegré as "The Chief"

OH Man you guys blew my cover....I guess I can't tank it now. I'll just have to bribe someone at WIS to change his status.

I know this post is mostly in jest, but if he gets hurt he can't produce for you this year, still might not resign with you next year, and if he does probably won't be worth it.

Try to trade him to a contender if you're not happy with getting the picks. Or if you're a contender run him into the ground at the end of the year like the Brewers did with Sabathia before they lost him.

Mainly i was just wondering if there was anyway you could change their mind. At least put demands at 20 mil or something. Who knows I might be stupid enough to take him up on it.

Never seen anyone change their mind once they decide to go FA.

I have a 30 year old RP who, last season, said he was going to test the market. We rolled to the new season last night, and now he's saying "Let's be honest, I'll play for whoever shows me the money." So I should be able to re-sign him on "resign your departing FAs" day.

He's also a Type A, and has shown no decline in ratings during the off-season.
