I'm gonna dump 20M on this guy, is he worth it?

Is he going to progress at all?  If so, yes he's worth it.  If not, he's still probably worth it.

I mean, it depends on a variety of factors (how many people have more money than you, how many days are left in the season, how good your int'l scouts are etc.) but he looks like a safe enough bet to dig into.  When I pass up guys like this, I end up with a huge wad of wasted cash much more frequently than the future HoF, so I tend to just take a quality guy when he's there.

It helps that he should be able to play catcher, or at least he should if you think pitch calling is a crock of crap like I do.

Its only like 20 games into season 1. I have the most available prospect$$ (30).  I have to sign the #12 and a type A & B comp

I would bid around 10 to start, and just keep on top of it if there is a bidding war for him.  Agree that it's best to go with the bird in hand here.
