Expansion Era Franchise Twist Progressive-Dead Topic

I want each owner to pick a team and be able to progress from one season to the next, while twisting most of the roster from that season.

We will start in 1969, the first season of 24 teams, and progress season to season.

The only significant rule is that I want each team to have at least 5 players from your given season on your roster, in other words not twisted. (ie-If you pick the Giants in 1989, you can twist 20 of your 25 players to any season of each player's career, but 5 (or more) of your players must be from that season, 1989.)

Stadium that your team used that season.

100 Million dollar payroll, None of the following: AAA, WW, Trades, Live Requirment.

Starting in 1973, AL teams will have the DH, just like in real life, and the NL will not ever have the DH (unless we get into future seasons, many years from now, in which the NL actually does add the DH)

I want owners to come back from year to year, but starting in 1977, and in any other expansion seasons, new owners or current owners who wish to change can swap over to an expansion team. (ie-beginning with the 1977 season, an owner could change to the Blue Jays or Mariners from his current team, or a new owner taking over for one who did not return could choose either of those teams)

I suggest that you take a team that you either root for, or that you have a lot of favorite players of, because there will be seasons that your team is not going to win. It will be more fun if you can enjoy your team win or lose.

To start it off, I am taking the White Sox, because that is my favorite team.

Each franchise can only be used once.

Is there any rule to prevent owners from using the same season of the same player multiple times?  I would think that might get old . . .

No, I'm trying to limit the rules to what is pertinent, plus the 5 players from your given season. It allows more freedom for buidling rosters.

By the way, divisional alignment will be random within league...so you could have the Red Sox, Angels, Brewers/Pilots, and Rangers/Senators in one division.

how are you going to determine the draft for following years? (and current year)  for example - Cubs only have 20 players on their 1969 roster...how will you fill those rosters?  How will you determine the rookie draft for future years?

also, how will you determine players that played for multiple teams?

If you are unable to get to 25 players on your roster, then any player from the preceding or succeeding season who's salary is between 500-750K from your franchise will be able to be used, but only if you cant find 20 twistable players, + your 5 in season players. If a player played for your team in your season, even 1 plate appearance or 1 pitch thrown, he is eligible for your team that season. Obviously, some players cant be used in your given season, but you can twist them to other seasons. As for the rookie question, I'm not quite sure what you mean. Please explain.

I would like the Dodgers.  Other than the five players from the current year, can we use players seasons from before 1969?
10/18/2010 1:48 PM
Yes, welcome deadscott. If you pick the 69 Dodgers, you can use any year of any player on that team, just so long as 5 of your guys were from 1969.
