Isn't 38% the average for real life basketball?

out of how many shots?

if it's out of like 20 it's one thing.

out of 100 would be another.

Shouldn't you at least post/link to the players if you are going to make this sort of post?

well the totals that many of us have seen for low PER guys surely indicates that big-man 3FG% is really skewed to the Pittsnogle side of the curve too much

Didn't Grantduck's post originally have multiple examples in it?

I remember tarek wrote me he shot (pun intended) for 34% on average, I looked up the ncaa average, found this site, 34-35% is the answer based on the last couple of years - other interesting thing is real life how many attempts per team on average - seems really high unless I am reading it wrong?

OR, I think that the "Att PG" stat includes attempts for both teams per game.

For this particular conversationI don't care what the NCAA average is, guys that shoot 35% that have PER ratings around 10-25 are absolutely ridiculous.  While there are plenty of examples of guys that are shooting 50+ 3's, even with sample size of 15-20 attempts, it's happening too often.  You don't see crappy shooting big men in actual basketball go 8-20 on the season shooting 3's.

Wouldn't you just say of any big man that shoots 8 - 20 on three pointers in real life that defacto you are declaring him not a bad shooter?

If I posted every box score like this where a shiity PER rated team shot well from beyond the arc the thread would hit the 50 page limit.  And this was against a +3 defense.   Three point shooting is a fking joke in this engine.  It doesnt reallt matter what defense you play, teams are gonna shoot lights out if the engine wants them to.

The results are perfectly in line.   You are WAY to hung up on the actual per number.  I have coached for 27 years and if I were to rate a players perimeter shooting  the number i came up with would not be strictly corelated to the percntage of shots made.  The number would include how the player understands the proper technique of shooting when to take the shots where to take the shots etc etc.  The 3 point arc is really close and any college athlete who is on a team and practices even if the proper shooting techniques are not in his skill set will still make the shot, there are way to many variables.  I have seen 7th and 8th grade basketball games where kids can make that shot a lot easier than mid range so you really have to get over isolating just the per number.   The link you listed has absolutly nothing out of the ordinary..

Yeah your right ..a add on the strong ATH and SPEED ratings of those players and I can see how they would shoot 37% as a team <sarc>

If that's your "logic" then there is really no point in arguing.
