Warning: Private World Rules issues. Topic

To commissioners who intend on using the Private World Rules portion of the the update, be VERY CAREFUL when typing before submitting.

1st of all, great update.

2nd, there is no edit button once you've submitted your post about a rule.  So you cannot make any grammar, spelling or syntax adjustments.  Also you cannot amend it at a later date.  You'll have to amend it as a separate post at a later date, making it confusing as a reader because it will appear "x" amount of posts above the original rule.

3rd.  There is a character max per post!  Why is there a character max?  More so, why is there no warning or indication that there will be a character max per post before submitting?

4th.  When one goes over the character max, your post will be broken up into separate posts.  More confusingly, the latter part of the post as originally typed will be a separate post above the entire post as it was before submission.  For example:

(as typed) Today was a good day.
(appears) a good day.
                   Today was

To sum it up, to make any changes to the rules or edit a post, you will have to submit a ticket.

As a suggestion, maybe make an "amend" button next to a specific post and it will create an asterisk of some sort under the original post suggesting there was an amendment so it doesn't appear "x" amount of posts above  what is being amended....

I've sent in a ticket on this already, I suggest other commissioners should do the same.  It's frustrating.

Ugh. That is annoying. Ticket sent.

It's funny, not in the "I'm laughing at you" way, because I thought "I'm gonna hold off on posting rules in case there's a bug."

La dee ******* da... you're so smart, Mikey.

I'm guessing that the lack of an "edit" option is to prevent folks from changing the rules after the fact to fit whatever circumstances come up.

Example: you post a win threshold of 55 wins.  Somebody wins 56 but you want him gone for whatever reason.  So you edit the rule to now say 57.

I like the way it's implemented.  It may be a bit awkward, but I understand and agree with the reasoning.

I just wish that the posting worked like WC and TC, where the reader can follow when things get split into multiple posts.

then simply make it so that the commish can only post or edit rules between rollover and the first spring training game. In other words, set your rules once atthe beginning of the season and you can only edit them between seasons.

I've got no problem with amendments requiring a ticket; in fact, that's probably the best way to prevent commissioners from being dicks. But the interface and display is currently terrible.

Also, I still hate the newish two-step ticket filing system.

Indeed........

I hate when they close the ticket in the two-step system without even reading it.  CS seems to have their panties in a bunch lately.

They've actually been very responsive and courteous in my recent experience.

Maybe I'm just nicer.

Allow me to clear this up for you guys.

We CAN NOT allow for any modifications or deletions. This was clearly outlined in both the update thread and the help.

From the help: "Rules may not be deleted or edited so that we can maintain a record of all rules throughout a world's history."
From the update thread:"You do not have the ability to alter or delete your rules. If you need to change a rule just post the changes."

The page works exactly like the world chat has since the inception of HBD. Just like the world chat breaks apart posts so does the Private World Rules. The ordering issue will be fixed shortly, that is a legitimate issue.

DO NOT, and allow me to clarify, DO NOT send in any support tickets requesting any changes or modifications to your rules. We will not modify or alter any posts in any way.

I don't think we know that it doesn't allow changes between/during rollover.  Or even delete them altogether.    Obviously rules can change.  It would be a bit short-sighted to not allow changes at some point.

Ooops.  I guess the update is a bit short-sighted.
