League # MLB93966
This is the third and final league in the Steinbrenner Trilogy, consisting of all the Yankees teams that finished in third place or lower, plus the ultimate "What If" Yankees team, the 1994 edition that was the AL frontrunner until the strike canceled the postseason. All of the rival AL East division winners are here as well, plus the 2008 AL wild-card Red Sox (in addition to that year's division-winning Rays) and the two next-best teams of 1994: the White Sox and the Indians.
NOTE: Realignment in the Yankees league (the AL) has occurred with the Bush 1 era Yankees teams all in the 4-team AL West to avoid the perception that they have no shot, even though in a twist league, everyone should have a shot.
Since George Steinbrenner was in his 38th year of Yankees ownership when he passed away and 24 seasons have been used, this means there are 14 George Steinbrenner-era Yankee seasons remaining. With 1994 and 2008 each being represented twice by rivals, that means this is a 30-team league with bigger prizes! In order to make this league more competitive for all teams, the cap will now be $100M. Still there will be no WW, no AAA, no clones, no trades. There will be a DH in both leagues as every team is an AL team. Twisting is OK for any player who played at least 1 game for the team in that season according to baseball-reference.com. Include real team names (or acceptable variation thereof -- OK: Yanks, Bombers, Pinstripes, BoSox, O's, Jays, Tribe, ChiSox, Pale Hose, etc.; NOT OK: Skanks, Yank-Me's, Red Sux, you get the picture) and year in your team name.
Home park must be used for every club. This means Yankee Stadium I for the 1973 Yanks and Shea Stadium for the 1975 Yanks. The other Yankee teams will use Yankee Stadium II. The 1989 Blue Jays may use either Exhibition Stadium or SkyDome since they moved in midseason but the 1991 and 1992 Blue Jays must use SkyDome.
40-game Live minimum to qualify for postseason, like in SMLs 1 and 2. All postseason games must be played Live.
Obviously if you are a Yankees fan, you will want to join, but its haters have the opportunity to take the one team in each season that beat out the Yankees, so this league is for them as well. Please note that there are four Red Sox teams this time around. I will pick the 8th Yankees team as well as the last rival team standing. League number will be determined as soon as I am able to choose my Yankees team.
Bold means the team is taken. You may own 2 teams, but only if one is Yanks and one is not Yanks.
