I wouldn't say it is a major flaw. I mean its unrealistic, but WHAT PLAYER gets the rebound is somewhat cosmetic. What matters is WHAT TEAM gets the rebound. I know its not life like but I don't think it adds or subtracts from the game in any direct way, which is what a major flaw would be.

I thought seble changed that in the last update and rebounding is now individual rather than team-based?  Not that I agree with grantduck.  All of his big beefs with the engine seem incredibly minor.  I've actually had a guard lead a game in rebounding.  In fact, for a little while after the new engine rollout athleticism played a huge role in rebounding and one of the top 15 rebounders in the Knight upstate until 15 or 16 games into the season (granted, a conference with 9-10 sims most seasons) was a guard with only about 35 rebounding but a ton of athleticism.  I have a much bigger problem than that than with a system in which guards don't rebound as much as post players.

Agreed - his hot-button issues are minor things. And I think there is now an individual component to rebounding, but it's definitely not a straight-up individual thing.

grantduck is definitely one of those guys that played or plays guard for some team and prides himself on boxing out

I had a SG on my Indiana team in Wooden lead the team in rebounding earlier in the season.  In fact, he had more rebounds than my starting SF, PF, and C combined.  Good enough single game example Grant?

I really only have 2 beefs, this one I consider fairly mild, the big men/spd issue I consider  the most major,  by far because it's the most unrealistic thing about HD.  It's absolutely broken at D-II and D-III, and not much better  at D-1.

The IQ thing I posted the other day was more an observation, than a real complaint.

they're pretty similar. the idea that guards should rebound goes inline with the notion that big men should have speed.

I had at least 3 games this season where a G lead my Duke team in rebounding - twice my PG led with 6 (once he tied) and once my SG led with 7.

You do realize that you have no idea what the ratings mean, right?

They're all relative, and without any context (which none of us have), you have no idea what a SPD of 1 is as opposed to 30.

Obviously means that the guy with 30 sp can run 29 suicides before the guy with 1 sp can get 1 in.

Unless the guy with 1 sp has 99 ath, in which case he simply leaps from one line to the next, ending impressively in back to back full court jumps to complete the suicide.

Unless his stamina sucks, of course.

Haha.  The leaping from sideline to sideline visual image got me.

Also, it was my understanding that spd affects quickness.  I understand that some big men are as fast as guards in straight-line speed, but not many are as quick.

I don't mean to take the thread over, but I really don't see guard rebounding as a problem.

Well, I like to think I have some idea  I think most people would agree that a SPD 70 is going to be  considerably faster than a SPD 30.

The bigger issue was that there was a major nerfing of SPD in big men when the last engine overhaul took place in the backwards direction.   It ruined D-II for me.   There were roughly 30-40 viable big men with decent SPD which went down to about 1-2 at most per recruiting class.

LOL.  There might be a bit of truth to that. :-)

I also enjoy watching teams over the years like Butler, Michigan State, etc, where all 5 guys rebound together and regularly have guards lead them in rebounding in a particular game.
