I had in the pen as a setupA, just decided to move him to rotation as a 6th starter.  I dont dont know if he will recover enough to start every 6th day.  Guess Ill find out.

He would need a pretty low pitch count to go every sixth day.

He won't recover anything like fast enough to start every 6th day.  My guess is that every 9-10 days is more like it.

EDIT:  Or, as tec suggests, a pitch count around 60.

I'd use him as Closer A ... 9th inning available / 15-30 pitch count / pitch only in save situations. He should be 100% almost every time.

Could you swing it using him as a tandem starter?

At a DUR/STA of 5/74, you're probably only looking at a max of 70-80 IPs or so.  As a closer in save situation only, you're only going to get 40-45 IPs out of him.  So tandem B whenever he's at 100% would probably work better.  But he's also have periods of 7-8 days of rest in between appearances, depending on pitches thrown per appearance.

Tec is pretty much dead on....I forgot that I have a player like this in my minors, 7 durability, 76 stamina...use him as a SubB and he gets about 45 innings a season. Never tried using him in a tandem role because that is more work than I care to do for my low A ball club, but I assume he could probably pitch more innings if stretched out a bit in that role. And, yeah, he gets gassed sometimes ends up resting for about 10 days between appearances.

I'm with the closer ide.  You'll get 50 innings or so of highly useful, game on the line innings out of him.

Thanks for the advice.  This season is is pretty much a wash so I'll try the closer and tandem and see what seems to work best.

50 innings of setup is more valuable than 50 innings of closing.  A monkey could save you 80% of save chances.  Half the time or more the game really isn't on the line in the 9th any more so than it is in leverage situations in the 7th or 8th.

I'd use him as a setup guy with limited pitch counts, and if my bullpen was deep I'd spot start him in the playoffs or a pivotal game down the stretch.
