Why does Alaska not have recruits, part 2 Topic

No D-1 recruits in Alaska or pretty much ever in BC; but Puerto Rico is constantly loaded.

Is one of the creators of WIS Puerto Rican?

Puerto Rican recruits are internationals.  American recruits are linked to schools by division.

Exactly - no D1 schools in Alaska, so there will never be a D1 recruit in Alaska.  Ever.  Period.  That's how the game is designed, and frankly it's better than way.

As do Carlos Boozer and Mario Chalmers.......

I don't understand, when I searched the recruiting database I saw 2 recruits, unless by none you meant very small amount.

D1 doesn't have any, 707. But D2 and D3 have a couple, I do believe.

North Dakota and South Dakota are in the same boat as well.  No d1 recruits.

In Tark DI there are 2 D1 recruits, both are only rated slightly above 500, but DI none the less.

Depends on your prestige, but the "average" school would likely see them as D2.  You have D+ prestige in Tark.  Although I see 2 D1 as well.  One slightly above 500, one in the 470s.  Odd that we both see 2 D1 guys but they're not even the same guys.

Ahh very good point dahs, and I could be wrong, one could be 470, i just knew they were around 500. I never thought about the fact that our visions could be different.

There are never any recruits in the top 1000 in ND/SD anyways.  Except a juco every once in a great while.

Frankly, it's not better that way, because Puerto Rico is loaded, when it shouldn't be.  Meanwhile, Western Canada has nobody.

If you're going to link by state(which shouldn't be done), then Puerto Rico should count as a state, given its proximity.

Puerto Rico is not at all involved with my point, so I'm going to ignore that part of your post for the time being.  Why should linking the recruit distribution to school distribution not be done?  You don't think that makes for a better recruiting process than having it be random?  In general it makes sense for the game for recruits to be in a place where they can be appropriately recruited.

A few things.

1. You can't just exclude Puerto Rico.  It was the basis of my original post.  If Puerto Rico is consistently generating high quality recruits, so should Western Canada.

2. I like my simulations as close to real life as possible.  This means recruits from states like Alaska have recruits and there is some degree of randomness.  Obviously you're still going to have your high density recruiting areas in California, Texas, Seattle, New York, and the Carolinas/Virginia, but if it's a true simulation, there's going to be some randomness to where players are.

3. Even if you don't like the randomness, and prefer recruit distribution as you've stated, the generation should be regional, not just state specific.  This means states like New Mexico can help produce recruits for Arizona, Texas Tech, and the LA schools, for example.
