Freshman's potential changed color before season? Topic

I recruited http://www.whatifsports.com/hd/PlayerProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=0&pid=2103134 with the intention of redshirting him this year.  His SPEED is high potential, and after getting the scouting report, I found out that it is low-high.  Since I found that out I decided to recruit him as a future SF, figuring the ATH/SPD combo would be great for atleast 2 seasons.

I had classes today...so I come back onto my laptop, click on him checking some stuff, and I see that his speed is no longer blue but instead black...WTF is this??

This happened to me too.  Apparently the correspondence between the potential shown in the recruiting profile and the coloration used for the actual profile is off by a small decimal.  It means he's very low-high.  If it turns I'm wrong about this, I'd like my player who that happened to (Nicolas Hulsey on my Seton Hall team for speed as well) to get a nice little boost lol.

congrats, you now know he will rise exactly 20 points in that category. This is a known "bug"

I wouldn't really consider that a bug. At the time of recruiting his potential was just barely above the threshold for high potential. After the first practice session his speed improved marginally (not enough to show a full point increase) which put the potential below the high threshold. Unless there is something else I'm missing it sounds to me like it worked exactly as designed.

Yeah like said before, when a stat goes from blue to black that means he has almost exactly 20 points more improvement. I always try to look for this change so that I know exactly how much a skill will max out at early on.

I never knew this. I figured there was more variety in the improvement from that point.

Doesn't low potential have 2-5 improvement for it?

Thanks.  So would this guy gain 20 points, then go to low, and have anywhere from 0-7 points left to gain after the 20 mark, meaning he could gain 20-27 overall.  Or are those numbers only relevent for when you recruit the guys on it goes there...so if he's like this guy, he has 20 points from that point and thats it?

Here is my understanding, he has 20 points to improve from where he is NOW. After he gains 13 points and only has 7 left of improvement remaining then he will go red. So when a player goes from Blue to Black he has 20 points overall until he is maxed out.

I could be wrong, but this is what my understanding of it is.

I hit the "jackpot" for this today in Tark.

My (hopeful) superstar Kevin Hornung went from blue to black in BH (without gaining a full point).

His teammate Christopher Trussell went from blue to black in Ath and Reb AND from black to red in SB (without gaining a visible point). In a single practice, he went from a project who could be a solid defensive player and rebounder as an upperclassman to only a little bit more than a warm body at the end of the bench on a good team.

Trussell, in particular, just illustrates even more the importance of scouting reports instead of just FSS (high-high vs low-high) and the risk of recruiting at a distance.

It's been pretty buggy.  I have guys that are "normal potentials" that immediately go orange and don't imrpove more than 6 points.  That to me is the biggest annoyance.  Normal should mean 10 points of improvement at LEAST.

Why?  It has always BEEN 6.99 points to 19.99.  Why should it be different?  There has always been a risk when you recruit that the averages would turn out to be lows.  That a player could, in fact, be a bust.  How is it buggy when it works exactly the way its supposed to:  You go under seven, which is the dividing line, you have changed colors.
 As soon as you make it 'ten at least' you woudl get these posts;

Agreed.

Same issue yesterday in Tark. Same kind of canned crap response from customer service about fractions. 20 minutes of practice shouldn't make anything go from blue to black. I also am awaiting a reply about why this happened to a rating which I got an eval that *seemed* to indicate the rating was High/High but has gone to average after 1 practice and no gain beyond a fraction.  I could be reading the eval incorrectly, but would like confirmation on that from CS.
