Come join Wooden Upstate, all-time great D3 conf. Topic

We have 4(!) openings this offseason, all human-coached and 3 of them in really good shape. Upstate is one of the all-time best d3 conferences, and is probably the very best in 1-a-day worlds. We haven't had more than 1 SIM team in a season in about 40 seasons... an awesome group of coaches, come for the challenge-- we will help beginners and show vets what a real d3 conference is about.

Click team name to open:

Skidmore: B+ , coming off a 2nd-round NT loss. 3 openings, 3 returning SRs. Flex-Zone, but built and coached by one of the great Zone coaches, rusticity.

Hamilton: B-, coming off a 12-15 season and no postseason for the first time in 19 seasons. 4 openings, 2 returning SRs. Motion-Man.

Clarkson: C-. 1 opening, 1 returning SR. Tri-Zone. This team is in the worst shape of the 4, but is still poised to make the PIT this season and NT the following 2+... Built by a solid coach, dahsdebater, and only 2 seasons off an NT bid.

St Lawrence: C-, 1 opening, 3 returning SRs. Motion-Man. They were mediocre this season (10-18) and last, but there's a stud G and some solid pieces to make the NT next season.

As a coach from a rival conference, I hate these guys (i.e. you'd be joining an incredible conference with a great group of guys).

Really, this is a pretty awesome opportunity if you like a challenge.

Prospective coaches must be ok with losing to Ren Poly twice (at least) every season.  I kid, but seriously, if you're a great coach sitting around thinking about a new challenge to take on, this conference is what you're looking for.

You should definitely consider joining the Upstate.  The rest of us in Wooden DIII would be sad to see our favorite arch-enemy-conference suffer from a lack of human coaches.

Sorry for leaving in such a hurry guys.  It was a last-minute decision.  I've been way too busy to take care of even 1 team properly, and just getting by was never going to work out in the Upstate.  Maybe I'll give it another shot in a few months.

Come on, people. Job changes end today...
8/25/2012 9:37 AM
It's not open to new coaches yet. Don't worry, those jobs will be filled when they are available.

Jobs are now open to new-to-Wooden folks. Hamilton has been taken, 3 jobs remain open. Come get some!

Skidmore has been picked up. St Larry's and Clarkson still available.

Clarkson taken, only St Larry's to go. Who wants in?

I hope someone takes St. Lawrence so Upstate has one less excuse to use after getting beat by Minnesota again.

Seriously, this is a great opportunity, folks. If intense competition is your thing...Wooden D3 is the place for you.

Only a few hours left to take on the Wooden/Upstate challenge...

I'm considering it, but I have the most expereince in Wooden of all the worlds I"m in (there are over 160 DI openings available to me right now).

Plus I already coach St. Lawrence in another world, and this team looks like it could use a bit of work.

Still, it'd be nice to be in a good conference full of interested coaches...someone convince me it's worth it to drop to DIII instead of going back to DI in Wooden and maybe I will LOL.

As someone with experience in both D1 and D3 Wooden, D3 is far more fun.  D1 is kind of boring.  D3 has 6-8 full or almost-full conferences and there is a ton of both inter- and intra-conference banter.

Four conferences have an ongoing challenge in which 47 of the 48 jobs are held by actual users, not sims. I joined Wooden D3 a few seasons back similarly (I didn't have Wooden experience, but I'm in one of the "Big Four" conferences), and I've loved it so far. Very active, great coaches and programs. You should definitely join.
