Regaining lost ratings points with low potential Topic

Samuel Haley

At the time he was recruited, Sam's stamina sat at 75, with low potential.  Through his redshirt season, he practiced 20 minutes in conditioning and it held steady.  No surprise there.

He came back after the summer having lost four points in stamina, so now he was at 71.  Through his freshman season, he practiced 20 minutes in conditioning and it held steady.  No perceptible gain or loss.

Returning for his sophomore year, he'd lost another point - now he was at 70.  We're 19 games into the season and he has practiced 20 minutes in conditioning.  He has not recovered enough for a point to show up again.

I'm sure others have had similar experiences.  Is it really this difficult to get a single point back?  Is it more difficult, seemingly impossible, because the attribute is stamina?

LLama, stamina is usually fairly easy to improve.  My guess would be that the reason why you're not seeing improvement is because of the low potential.  Still, with that much practice time, I would have expected to see at least "some" gains.

That is weird with a decent WE. I would hope that once he grew into the mid to late 60's in WE you'd get that back with that much time.

You would think that the more points he drops in the offseason, the farther away from the cap he gets, so the easier it would be to get the points back.

I sent in a ticket about this a year or two ago, and they basically told me "we're aware there's a problem."  I had almost the exact same experience, and my player even dropped enough in the offseasons to show as average potential by his SR year..and he never gained a single point in ST during his 4 seasons, with good WE and practice minutes.

The gist of what they told me was that there's a "growth rate" variable based on how much room the player has before he hits his max in that rating.   So it is supposed to adjust down as the rating improves and gets closer to the max.  But apparently when your guy comes in with absolutely 0 room to grow like that, the "growth rate" never ends up increasing if the rating drops.  I suspect it happens with other ratings too, but ST is the only one that regularly drops multiple points in the offseason, so it is the only rating where you'd notice it.  They claimed it only happens when the recruit comes in with almost 0 room to grow in a rating.

Nice to know they got right on fixing that problem.  This glitch makes me think harder about signing anyone with 70ish ST and low potential.

That's awful.  Thanks for posting.  For what it's worth, I'll submit another ticket.

definitely worth it. now that you guys mention it, im almost positive this has happened to me, too. i have a player right now, start of season, but i think it happened last season... ill certainly be watching it now, and ill send a ticket myself if my guy has the problem.

thanks for bringing this up!

My pleasure.

Wait, that is most definitely the wrong phrase.  Anytime!

The same thing seems to have happened to his PER, btw.  Lost a point there that I can't seem to get back, though I'm not trying real hard.

Happened to me on PER too.  I had a guy come in with a 78 low rating.  During the first off season it dropped to 77. He is a senior now and just recently improved his Per to78.  Not as dramatic, but still a player shouldn't be less skilled after his Junior year of college than he was as a high school senior.

Please post the response to your ticket, thanks

I included this suggestion in my wish list for minor changes to the game.  Here is a ticket that I sent a good long time ago now.  I have to assume that there is some real stumbling block to fixing this issue in the coding:

Here is the identical situation recurring:

I recruited David Johnson with a initial stamina of 78 (low) and scouting msg. "Pretty good shape - I doubt we'll see any improvement here." While I have practiced between 15 - 30 minutes on conditioning, his stamina drops every offseason and barely recovers.

At the beginning of this season he had a 71 rating (black - average). I'm currently giving him 30 minutes and plan to do so for the remainder of the season, but he has only regained 1 point of Stamina.

I continue to believe that some patch has to be applied to prevent the offseason drop from wrecking players with initial maxed-out stamina or to allow them to recover normally.

Thank you for your time.

It's on our list for review, but we haven't made any changes yet.

Horrible that they've known about it this long and haven't fixed it yet.  Totally unacceptable.  It's probably a good thing that no one with any real clout pays attention to this game.  If they did, I imagine heads would roll.

I'd imagine that if anyone with any real clout paid attention to this site the developers' wouldn't be constantly pulled away to work on other FoxSports projects and the problems would actually get fixed.

Or, someone with real clout pays attention to this site and constantly decides the developers' time would be better spent elsewhere.

Rogelio, I forgot that about your post, which was a good'n.
