Should I run Uptempo? Topic

You won't tire him out with him running a zone, so don't let that factor into the equation at all.  Really, it mainly boils down to - do you think your team is better?  If so, you want as many possessions as possible by running uptempo.  If not, you want to shorten the game with slowdown.

your tempo apparently has no effect over his fatigue levels now.

I would not run uptempo.  Outside of what's already been mentioned, another thing to consider is their IQs are better than yours across the board (and more so for bench players).  The small advantage your bench has will be partially (if not completely)  negated by his A and A- compared to your C IQs.  Just my opinion...take it for what it's worth as I only have 60 games under my belt.

If uptemp doesn't wear the other team out, is it's only advantage increasing number of possessions if you have a better squad? Does it effect the sim other ways?

That's my understanding - you get more possessions and your players tire more quickly.  Useful if you have good stamina and/or a deep bench, and are good at drawing fouls.

Thanks, but like dac says, does it only effect your fatigue and not the other teams?

If there is any effect it's miniscule.

It affects both teams' fatigue.  Each team get more touches; therefore, gets worn out quicker.

Does anyone have any insight as to why this might not be a good idea?

My sample size is probably too small, but when I've looked through my game logs, my starters play pretty much the same number of minutes against uptempo as against other tempos, with my tempo held constant.  Foul trouble excepted, of course.

Are we certain that fatigue is tied to possessions?

Yes, we are certain.  The number of shots impact the fatigue also.  If you are playing a good defensive team (or are one yourself) you will be able to pull more minutes just because a lower number of shots and/or turnovers are occurring.  Imo, it is probably not enough to be overly relevant but it CAN make a difference.  I tend to think your sample size is *probably* too small.

Sergei, you are absolutely wrong.  In the current engine all my data strongly suggests that tempo does not impact opponents' fatigue.  The only exception to this is that running uptempo can cause you to draw more total fouls, so if you get a couple of their players in foul trouble and held out you effectively shrink the size of their rotation and thereby fatigue the guys still playing more than you otherwise would.
