first, let me say, thanks! i didnt expect to get 15 responses already. they are much appreciated. I think I am going to stick with the plan for high d1, so sorry to the people looking for d2/d3, I just am not up for that right now. secondly, a few people asked how it might work. thats hard to say, theres a few ways it could go. what i am primarily interested in is team composition discussions and strategy. whats the vision for the team, what players do we need where, and why? all the how is this team going to look in 2-3 seasons and what do we need to make them awesome, type stuff. and also some team setup/game planning strategy, as well as recruiting mechanics (going for the targets) strategy. i generally would prefer NOT to be the "primary" coach, if you will. id rather just be like, the support guy, talking through things and helping when needed, and helping talk strategy. if you want to go a different way and make a different decision than i would, i generally have no problem with that - i just want the opportunity to have the discussion. however, im also willing to split duties, if that is better for the other coach - taking primary half the recruiting sessions, etc... i just really dont think you want me primary during the regular season, because i literally butcher the **** out of that with the teams i coach myself. literally a retarded monkey is a better regular season coach than me.
if people are somewhat in the mentoring side of co-coaching, the one place i think i can probably help make any coach better is with respect to team planning, thats my favorite part of the game and the most important part of being successful. as a brand new d1 rookie, terrible recruiter, i was successful just off mostly team planning and team setup/game planning, even though i literally could not recruit for ****. i remember my first d1 championship team, in my 7th lifetime d1 season, up to that point i literally had recruited a grand total of 1 high end BCS quality player in my life. but that didnt stop me - by season 15 we had won 5 in the last 9 seasons, maybe the greatest d1 run of all time, not knowing how to recruit for ****. so really, my ideal partner is a guy who is already able to build teams that can compete for titles in high d1, and i just contribute mostly on the strategy side, letting them handle a lot of the execution. i like the theory better anyway.. but im happy to do execution side stuff too. fairly open, as long as i get my fix on the strategy side, thats what i miss. frankly, i cant stand playing the damn game the 80% of the time you are just executing the strategy... but anyway, as long as i can team up with a guy who can recruit well and coach decently already, i think our team could be extremely successful out of the gate, regardless of if you do most things, or if i take primary on half/most of it - im flexible. the strategy is everything as long as your team is decently talented, and you can get really deep into team composition strategy - everyone thinks recruiting is most important for some crazy reason! so im not as concerned about how we split the mechanics, im open, especially if both coaches are fully competent in those areas - then we can just focus on strategy (recruiting strategy too). thats the best part anyway, it seems to me...
