Six Drafts Tournament IV
1st = $100, 2nd = $50
Salary Cap = $90 Million
A little over a year ago, I ran the first of three different "Six Drafts" tournaments. These tournaments were a big hit as a total of 232 round 1 teams were entered into these tournaments (72, 96 & 64, respectively). Everybody loves drafts, but we hate slow drafts. This concept gives us short, fast drafts, where we get to make 3-4 picks per day. And we get to compete directly with the three other people we draft against.
Version IV of the Six Drafts Tournament will be similar to Version I, where four people will draft players within one season. The main difference in this tournament is that you need to keep track of the teams you draft from. You may not roster more than one player per team. If you draft a player who played on more than one team during the year, you may roster either version of his combined season as long as you don't roster any other players from that team (you must specify which team you are using when you draft him). Of course, you can also roster either of his partial seasons.
Round 1
There will be 18 four-team drafts being held simultaneously (i.e., 72 teams = three leagues). All the even numbered years between 1980 and 2014 will be used. The league alignment will be as follows:
| Sim Division |
League 1 |
League 2 |
League 3 |
| NLE |
1980 |
1982 |
1984 |
| NLC |
1986 |
1988 |
1990 |
| NLW |
1992 |
1994 |
1996 |
| ALE |
1998 |
2000 |
2002 |
| ALC |
2004 |
2006 |
2008 |
| ALW |
2010 |
2012 |
2014 |
---> Years highlighted in Blue are full
Owners may sign up for as many as many as three teams, as long as they are in different leagues. I may open it up to more than three after enough time has passed and it hasn't filled.
Round 2
Any team that advances to the playoffs in round 1 automatically qualify for round 2. The alignment for round 2 will be based on playoff teams from round 1. For example, the division winners from 1980, 1986 and 1992 plus the wildcard team from League 1 NL will all be in the same division in round 2 (i.e., NL East). You will use your same roster for round 2.
Drafting Rules
Once four people have signed up for a season, a random draft order will be chosen for the first round. After that, each round's draft order is based on cumulative salary (lowest picks first). It's up to each drafting group to update the alpha list and salary total (I can't possibly run all 18 drafts).
Prizes:
It does not cost anything to play. I will provide the prize money. The Round 2 World Series Winner will win $100. The runner-up will win $50.
