Battle of Ohio Topic

In Hoops Dynasty D2 there are 4 Ohio teams. Tiffin and Central State are in the North American Athletic Association, and Ashland and Findlay are in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Starting in season 78 we will have a tournament that puts these teams against each other. If 2 teams tie for the best record in the tournament then we will use the winner of the Head-to-Head result as the tie-breaker. If three teams tie then RPI will determine the tiebreaker at the end of the season.

The schedule for season 78 will be:

Round 1: Round 2: Round 3:
Ashland at Central St. Tiffin at Ashland Ashland at Findlay
Findlay at Tiffin Central St. at Findlay Tiffin at Central St.

Round 1 and 2 will be played during non conference games. Round 3 will be played during conference games.

Good Luck to my fellow Ohio coaches and may the best Ohio team win.

Our first game of Season 78 featured Ashland @ Central St. After being down the first half, Central St. was able to take the lead with 5:47 left in the game and not give it back, winning 87-77. The player of the game went to Robert Shor, who had 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. The worst performance of the game goes to Christopher Holland who had a turnover and 2 fouls in only 4 minutes of playing time. One of the key factors that led to a Marauder victory were Free Throws. They shot 79.3% compared to only 55.6% by the Eagles.

Good writeup. I will send the invites out for the season 79 games. I think this is a good idea, hopefully it keeps going.

The next game was Central St. at Findlay. After being down in the first half, Findlay was able to dominate the second half winning 64-56. The player of the game went to David Moor who had 15 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals. The worst performance goes to Stan Delgadillo who had 4 turnovers in 14 minutes, along with 0 points. Free Throws were another big factor in this game, except this time they went against the Marauders.

In our 3rd game in Season 78 Tiffin ousted Findlay 63-55. The player of the game went to Bernard Leto who had 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks. The worst performance goes to Fred Rosenberry who had 3 fouls and a turnover in 13 minutes. Although the Oilers shot better than the Dragons, they got dominated on the boards.

At the end of the non-conference schedule Ashland was able to hold out against Tiffin winning 69-64. This means each of the four teams finished 1-1 going into conference play where we will have 1 more round of action.
5/19/2015 8:15 AM
In our first game of round 3 Tiffin was able to win at Central St. 73-64. With one more game to be played Tiffin will be the best team in Ohio if Findlay wins. However, if Ashland wins, then they will be the best team in Ohio.
5/19/2015 8:19 AM
Findlay was able to win the final game of season 78 at home against Ashland 87-73. This means that Tiffin wins the Battle of Ohio for season 78.

Final Standings:
Tiffin: 2-1
Findlay: 2-1
Central St.: 1-2
Ashland: 1-2

I would give the MVP to Bernard Leto who averaged 11.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks in the three games. Do the other coaches have any thoughts, comments, and/or suggestions for this seasons tournament?

I haven't really looked, but are there any other DII schools in Ohio?

Nope, only the four. Check out this map.

To start off the season 79 Battle of Ohio, the GLIAC has been dominate. Both Ashland and Findlay have beaten Central St., and in the next two days we will see how well they can do against Tiffin. Central St. vs. Ashland remained close the entire game, but Ashland was able to pull ahead in the 2nd OT winning 74-66. Findlay vs. Central St. also remained close with Findlay's defense dominating down the stretch. Findlay was able to pull off the 67-60 victory.
6/29/2015 9:08 AM
After the quick start by the GLIAC, the NAAA came back with two strong showings by Tiffin. They were first able to get past Findlay by a score of 87-76. The Dragons were then able to keep hold on for the 65-54 win against Ashland.

The standings after the first round:
Tiffin: 2-0
Findlay: 1-1
Ashland: 1-1
Central St.: 0-2

With only one round remaining Tiffin is awarded the best team in Ohio for the second year in a row by beating both Findlay and Ashland. After the last round I will award the MVP of the tournament.
