Curt Flood Free Agency League- Inaugural Season (1970)
****************************************************************************
16 Teams (No DH).
$70 million Budget (of Auction Money – not WIS salary prices)
* Each season the Salary Cap will go up $1 million (so $80 mil in 1980, ect.)

It’s 1970-- the Supreme Court ruled in FAVOR of Curt Flood vs. MLB in his fall of 1969 bid to reject a trade from the Cardinals to the Phillies & become a Free Agent to sign with whatever team he chose. The Supreme Court ruling overrides Baseball’s eternal “Reserve Clause” where ownership always had rights over the players -- instead instantly granting all current MLB Players Free Agency.

16 teams will each have $70 million to bid on the services of all 1970 Players in the WIS database via Silent Auction sitemail. I’ll divvy up & space out 15 days worth of players for bid alphabetically be position. Bids can be made in any amount, in $100-K increments. So the League minimum salary will be $100,000. I will send my bids the night before to the first 3 owners that sign up) Contact Lengths will be from 1 to 5 years. Either extend the contract each year up to 5 years, or cut whomever you want going into the next season. After a max 5-year Contract expires, that player becomes a Free Agent. Traded Players Contracts are the same amounts & time duration as the original price paid.

(AAA) Sign & Roster up to 40 players. Teams that run out of money before they sign a full 40-man Roster will be able to get to 40 players via a (AAA) random Draft to fill out their 40-man roster at the end of the auction, but these players will be one-year signings only. I’ll keep a detailed Accounting of all Teams Current Rosters & Salaries in the Forums.

************************************************************
(IN-Season) $10-million Cap Room Expansion
************************************************************
In Season, Teams can trade for players whose salaries may put them as much as $10 million over the total overall cap.

***********************
1971 & Beyond
************************
* The 1971 Auction Player Pool will be consist of all 1971 Rookies, injured players prior to 1971 season, and anyone else cut or not under contract. Evaluate your Roster in the offseason, submit Keepers & Cuts, and try to build a winner. Max contract length is 5 years.

************************************************************************
Salary Cap goes up $1 million Season to Season
************************************************************************
League-Wide Salary Caps will go by $1 million each year. So in 1971- Salary Cap is $71 million, 1972, $72 million... 1980- $80 million, 1990- $90 mil, 2000- $100 mil, 2016- $116 mil, ect.

Auction Process
***********************************
There'll be a list of players each day up for bid. I'll divvy up the 1970 Available Players Pool into 15 days worth of players alphabetically by position. 16 teams in the League will bid on all of the players. Send in a bid list each day on whatever players you want from the daily list & sitemail how much you are willing to pay- highest bidder wins & that becomes the Contract Price against the $70 mil cap.

*************************************
Example - Reggie Jackson
*************************************
Let's say REGGIE JACKSON is up for bid on Day 5 List & all 16 teams throw out a bid via sitemail & you're the highest bidder @ $6.5 million.
Reggie Is yours for up to 5 years @ $6.5 million per season. (1970-1974) after which Reggie would become a free agent again before the 1975 season. If Reggie had a lousy 1972 season & you wanted to cut him before the 1972 season rather than pay him $6.5 mil. You cut him then & he'd become a free agent for the 1972 Auction.

it's a bit more involved then a straight progressive- but it's not too complex.
15 Days of players up for silent auction bid alphabetically by position. High Bid wins.
What you win the bid for is what you pay each year - max 5 years - cut anytime before 5 years.
