2000 Team Icon Needs one (SEA) Topic

The 2000 Team Icon League needs an owner for the Braves. The open team is the Atlanta Braves. The basic premise of the league is that you cannot have any player on your roster unless he played for your team at some point in his career. Any player who played only for your team you get automatically without drafting them (Cal Ripken Jr, Barry Larkin, Tony Gwynn, etc.) and anyone else goes into the regular rookie draft. Trading is hot and heavy in the league to get ahead of the other teams that can take your guys. We are nearing the playoffs in the 1999 season so the 2000 Draft should start fairly shortly. The Braves pick 4th in all rounds. The Braves have a pretty good draft this season with Rafael Furcal, A.J. Pierzynski & Julio Lugo leading the way. If you wanted another team the defunct NL teams are Arizona, Colorado & Florida. There are procedures in place for moving teams if you like any of those three franchises more than the Braves. The Braves roster for 2000 is as follows:

2000 Atlanta Braves

Or Arizona, Colorado or Florida if you prefer. We're currently at game 152 in 1999 so 10 more games and then the playoffs.

I've never played in a progressive league, but I am interested. Is there anything I can read to catch up on how it works and all the specifics? I can't find anything on the site.

We also have the Mariners as an open team. They have already traded their 1st Round PIck in 2000 in a previous deal, but as an incentive to a new owner, they will get a Comp Pick at the end of the First Round. We have open teams in ARI, COL, FLA, KCR, MIN, & TOR. If you are a fan of any of those franchises we have a three-year transition process that you can transition the Mariners to them over the years of 2000, 2001 & 2002.

The Mariners do have some solid draft classes coming up with Ichiro in 2001, Aaron Harang & Rafael Soriano in 2002, Jason Bay in 2003 and you'll get King Felix for free in 2005.

Mariners have some studs coming up in the next few years. Jump on in and play a fantastic Progressive Theme. We've been going strong for 31 seasons now.

If you're not a fan of the Mariners the open teams have some pretty compelling draft availables the next few seasons. You could move to one of the open AL cities (Kansas City, Minnesota or Toronto.) Or if you're more of an NL person Arizona, Colorado, & Florida are open and our Houston owner has said they don't mind moving to the AL a few seasons early if it'll get us filled up.

No early 2000 AL Fans out there? The Blue Jays especially have a ton of talent upcoming.
10/15/2018 1:51 PM (edited)
Mariners have added Carlos Guillen to their roster in the 2000 Rookie Draft. C'mon in for a shot at Ichiro next year and you'll get King Felix for free without having to draft him!
10/21/2018 10:32 PM
And Chris Woodward. Look at these studs they're drafting! They're going to the Series this year for sure!

All kidding aside this team does have some solid players ahead of them. Of course Kansas City, Minnesota and Toronto are also movement possibilities. The Blue Jays have an especially strong draft class.
