In case you missed it in another thread, Phelan's D3 population was at a whopping 36 teams prior to the rollover. Truly, this is an impressive feat!

On behalf of everyone, I'd like to thank all the dummies who participated in the 3.0 Beta and gave Seble such wonderful 'advice' on changes that would improve and grow Hoops Dynasty. Take some time to pat yourselves on the back, WIS couldn't have done it without ya.

And Phelan D1 has only 121 humans.
But the big news is that Moose and Ceej_Money left the Phelan WCC...!
Ceej was poached to the Big Ten by "iwantyourmind", which seems appropriate.

I wonder what the operating costs are for this game and how much money Sportshub/WIS is making on HD currently...

Changing job = a mess
D3 recruiting = a mess
D2 recruiting < than 2.0
D1 recruiting= luck, location = wins
EES= a mess
2 sessions recruiting = a mess

People left for all or one of these reasons. Let’s reboot and get the 2.0 recruiting system back.

In my opinion, recruiting in HD 2.0 was asinine.

Think of these gems from 2.0:
I'm doing this from memory...

- scouting included 3 colors... blue meant 20+ growth points... black meant 7 thru 19... red meant up to 6 points.

- in order to determine if a rating is "green", you'd spend money to send a scout... the scout would email you with information on 4 categories, randomly... usually the information would repeat itself and it would take 5 to 10 scoutings to get an answer on the most relevant categories for each targeted guy... usually your scout would email about a targeted point guard babbling about Durability or Shotblocking... and they'd be cryptic messages, like "Joe Pisarcik can take guys off the dribble" which meant max 20 growth points in Ballhandling... or "I expect *MASSIVE* improvement in Conditioning which meant whatever, either Speed or Athleticsm... i don't exactly remember except i needed a guidebook and i would waste shetloads of limited funds farting around on individual recruits.

- Superclasses... it was in everyone's interest to stagger class sizes as 6-0-6-0, cuz those years with 6 openings meant you'd get 96k for scouting-recruiting (which was combined). Teams with A+ prestige would basically just select who they wanted, because no one would be nuts enough to challenge them... so using no money at all would allow teams to spend pennies then bank unused money. Top teams would enter recruiting sometimes with $400,000 (their banked money, plus bonus conference money). Unused money would rollover to the following season.

- Bonus conference money would be handed out based on NT performance by conference mates. The better your conference performed, the more money you'd be handed. So collusion within your conference was in each teams' interest. Top teams would run interference for lesser teams within their conference.

- more to follow...

yeah i never played 2.0 but it sounds pretty dumb. I love 3.0 but wouldn't mind a few simple changes.

More 2.0 gems:

- The "signing cycle" was like at 8pm on the third day, period. Campus visits and home visits were unlimited. Nothing needed to be unlocked. A solid team could recruit a guy for days, and be the only team on a guy... then at 8pm on the signing day, without ever having made previous contact, A+ Georgia Tech with $540,000 would back a dump truck into the recruit's driveway and all at once would drop 80 Campus Vists and 200 Home Visits. Oh yeah, and it was like $5 per phone call, so Georgia Tech would call the recruit maybe 1,700 times. Think of how asinine. For people living in reality, this was known as "poaching"... for sadistic predatory type humans, this was their catnip and hordes would verbally attack anyone who used this "poaching" terminology.

- you could click on a team and find every player that team was pursuing. So a Big Six school with money (earned thru collusion) could look and count the number of guys that were ranked as "high" on a team's recruiting page, get a basic sense of how much money that poor slob had left in his bank account, and then would poach accordingly ["but don't call that poaching!!!!!].

I agree with you Nick.

I have to say, it's tempting to pick up a team, on the assumption I could win some tourney games and support my Naismith team...

Then come join the Northwest! We have a great group of guys, are consistently the top RPI D3 conference, and it's pretty lonely in my half of the conference.

Great points npb! Certainly nothing asinine about recruiting now.

The level of asinine-ness in 2.0 was off the charts.

Recruiting issues in 3.0 are correctable... (1) expand the Considering List beyond only 10 schools... (2) maybe increase the percentage of signability to say 35% or 40%.... (3) EE's i have no problem with. Either adjust Session One targeting strategies, or limit the amount of probable EE's you sign. Anytime i sign a Top 20 recruit, i expect him to leave after 3 years.

Those are things you can adjust for, generally.

2.0 had impossible hurdles... every Illinois and Georgia Tech team in each World had basically $450,000 to work with, compared to $32k for a typical D1 team... Ga Tech just selected their players.

Parts of 3.0 are JUST as asinine as 2.0!

Sad part is we all recognized it but Seble was in such a rush to get it out that a half *** project was dumped on the players with no actual plans to fix what we were told would be fixed.

In fact, judging by the masses of people that left, 3.0 may be worse.
All you had to do was
1) remove roll over money and
2) introduce the current recruiting process but keep it in one session (post season). (in season recruiting/signing is NOT needed)

Seems simple to everyone except the ones who run the site.

And cap D3 and D2 recruiting so it’s not about the waiting game or hope a d1 sim does not stick on your stud
