how would you fix this team? Topic

I thought I was doing reasonably well, progressing with better seasons and better recruits but I am seriously under-performing this season. I would appreciate any suggestions on my Fordham team in Smith. https://www.whatifsports.com/hd/TeamProfile/Ratings.aspx?tid=5288
Thank you.

For this season I would
1. switch Bey and Morton
2. Use double teams. One on one in the M2M your guys can't stop great D1 players.
3. Conference play will help you rack up wins. Penn and Brown should be your only competition.
4. Spread out your scoring. For me I would try to have a third scorer. Either next best scorer or inside guy to balance the attack. If you have the time daily you can change the third scorer based on matchups. Could be off the bench or as a starter.

Thanks FTB, I had forgotten about doubleteams and now I see the reasoning for switching Bey & Morton. 3rd scorer is a little harder but I'll try some possibilities.

Morton and Bey are taking too many shots. Balance out the scoring more. You have other good perimeter shooters that you can utilize.

I won't sugar coat it... your recruiting is horrible my friend.

You simply can't expect to compete at D1 with guys like Vernon (32 ath, 47 def). YUCK. And that SOB is playing almost 18mpg!! I would have cut that guy immediately... from my D3 team!

I realize you're rebuilding but you gotta aim higher. You play M2M so you can afford to go 10 deep if needed so don't worry about trying to fill out the roster with mediocre players. You don't need to start going all in on 4 stars but without better talent than you have, you're gonna have a bad time.

Here's how I'd start. Take a look at some top D2 teams. A top D2 team can make the NT in D1 no problem and there is no reason why you can't build that exact same team since you're D1. Once you build up your prestige, then start going for some of those 4 and 5 star studs.

Damn, can you tear apart my squad next please Benis?

His shooting was much more efficient last game and almost knocked off the #32 RPI team.

Morton is your only quality DI guard. Guard play is the currency in HD and your team is very weak in that area. They have fine PER but below average BH and well below PASS, ATH and SPD. If you duplicated Morton to replace every other guard on your roster (and he is a sub-700 OVR,) your team would be just fine...not a deep run in the NT squad but solid.

One other minor point, your Seniors don't have the highest IQ and they are 12 games into their final season. I don't think you are dedicating enough time to set practice. They should be at or near A+ at this point.

Sounds like I need to recruit better. I'm trying but better teams are not cooperating! Thanks for the added input!!

How much practice time do you use on sets? I've been using 20 minutes.

23-25 is what I’ve heard is recommended. I use 25.

My 2 cents are that you need to value athleticism, speed, and defense more in recruiting and value PER/LP less.

And at the end of the day, you just need better players.

Like sportsbulls, I use 25. Having your upperclassmen sitting at A and A+ does make a difference.

Thank you, I will definitely change that.
