Ads on the Forums! Topic

If we are going to have to put up with ads on the forums, they better plow some of that revenue back into development.

For some reason I had AdBlock set to off on Whatifsports sites...just turned it back on.

Agree though - if they're going to add ads, they might also want to drop a hello in the forums and let us know what, if anything, is being worked on right now.

I currently have FOUR ads on my screen right now. Top, bottom, left right. Holy smokes!

I have an adblocker but I will turn it off on WIS if management posts about the money going back into the site.

Edit: I turned it off. I love WIS too much to not put up with ads making my computer lag a bit.

I also have an adblocker. Been using it for years. Turned it off for WIS, and now I remember what ads look like.

Guess I won’t be coming back to the forums. I use my phone for this stuff.

My only issue is their algorithm. I am seeing advertisements for a insurance company I already have a policy with and a casino I already joined.

I have zero problem with ads here.

Whatever helps keep the lights on... I imagine WIS is Sportshub's only revenue producer right now.
god i hope that last statement is a false one... isn't WIS 6th on that bar at the top? i don't know what those other 5 things are that are earlier in the list than whatifsports, but i assumed that meant the other 5 were bigger...

The others are sports betting related or fantasy sports related so they're probably generating little to no income right now since there aren't many sports to bet on or fantasy leagues to join at the moment...

Does WIS get less money if we have ad-blockers on?

depends if advertisers are paying per impression or per click. i think its more of the latter these days but i suspect its probably a bit of both. i havent done google advertising myself.

speaking of that awesome google ads environment TJ mentioned... i just got all 4 of my ads for bestbuy, on the same page, lol. good thing those other 3 were there after i ignored the first one....

also, i have decided this is a terrrible development. these ******* ads are spazzing out on me. its not like some fixed **** i can ignore, pictures are moving, im gonna have a seizure! i need the gentle comfort of the static wall of text i am typing...
