Portland's Mayor Topic

90 days of looting, rioting, violence, destruction, and peaceful protesting. During the middle of a pandemic his party professes to be concerned about. What an incompetent hack. It's not Trump's fault he can't contol his own city.

Few, got that off my chest. Back to reading Boethius.

Also, here's the manifesto of the antifa member who executed a Trump supporter on the streets of Portland. (Dino's probably already drunk off cheering his death - much like the killer's fellow protesters in Portland did!)

What happened to waiting for the full context? I kid.

I think Wheeler had some good points, he's obviously not doing a good job though.

But vaguely gesturing about "controlling the city" without talking about what that actually looks like is meaningless.

Saying "law and order" and "looting bad" over and over again isn't a policy (just as repeating "racism bad' and "police brutality bad" isn't a policy).

Do you want the feds to come in like they did in Portland, making the situation 1000 times worse?

Do you want the police to get more involved? Wouldn't that increase the ferocity of the protests? Do you want them to use live ammunition? Wouldn't that just create a civil war or a full-on revolution?

The best way to solve this problem long-term (IMO) is to pass complete police reform and community investment. You need to prevent these incidents from happening in the future. The people on the streets now are going to stay until you either defund the police or abolish them entirely (not going to happen). But you can deflate the movement by appealing to the moderates. You don't get the police more involved in the situation directly. Like I have been saying, their goal should be to defend private property at night. Don't go on the attack.

I am of the opinion that a lot of this is correlated to economic desperation. If we can finally get a hold of this virus (won't happen as long as Trump's prez) and get the economy back on track, movements like this one will largely die down.

I believe you need to get rid of the trump virus. You can’t get the change without change and time is up. People can’t vote soon enough and are marching every day because they have nothing to do and once the hate Mongerer is out you will quickly see actual hope return and the real work begin.

lets not ***** foot around here. THe protesters share 2 themes - they hate police brutality and they hate trump - both with a passion.

the unrest will continue and get much worse if trump cheats his way to 4 more gut wrenching years.

This, with an emphasis on "nothing to do."

We can't go to restaurants. We cant go to games, concerts, bars. Jesus, there's a ******* pandemic still raging killing 1000 people a day, i get why Kellyanne thinks changing the topic from that is good, but you just can't.

Yet we can still get together to loot and destroy private and public property.
8/31/2020 10:06 AM
Oh, should Biden denounce and condemn the violence some more? Again? Should Kellyanne say the violence is good for Trump again? Should Trump retweet support of the Kenosha murderer again?

The cognitive dissonance is absurd at this point - none of the protesters on the left are wearing Biden shirts or holding Biden flags.

NOT THE CASE ON THE OTHER SIDE.

TRUUE! The diff is that the far-right is in bed with Trump. The far-left hates Biden.
8/31/2020 10:28 AM
Biden since the protests started: violence on the left or right is wrong and shouldn't happen.

Trump: retweeted a video of a black man pushing a white woman on a subway platform. No context, no explanation, no nothing. Pure race baiting.

Idiots: If I want things to get back to some semblance of normal I have to vote Trump. And he handled COVID so well, too!
8/31/2020 10:33 AM
Idiots: Well, Trump said law and order, so that must be his policy. What does that actually mean? Well, if the stupid Democrat governors and mayors would let him send federal assistance, they could "take care of the protests." What does that look like in reality? Look at Portland! The feds went in... and violence and protests got way worse. ****.

More idiots: there's no real difference between them and 4 more years of Trump would lead to a socialist utopia so really why vote and don't tell me I should.

Yeah, we should stone a panicked 17 year old (who is absolutely in the wrong and should "pay" for it with years of his life in jail) to death, but let those who commit predetermined violence and/or destruction run free to do it again and again. I know, I know, it's all Trump's fault, or the police's fault, or somebody else's fault. It's anybody and everybody's fault, except for the people actually do it. What a freaking joke. Time to get back to holding people responsible for their own actions instead of making excuses for them.

Literally nobody here has condoned the violence, my god are we speaking English here? Do I need a MAGA translator?

THE ONLY PERSON ENDORSING AND ENCOURAGING VIOLENCE IS TRUMP. KELLYANNE SAID THEY THINK IT HELPS HIS CHANCES. Ffs.
