This is a 16 team league. Each owner will nominate 1 player that has played 8, 9, 10 or 11 seasons* during the years 1961-2020. Once all 16 players are announced, a draft order will be determined and each owner will draft a different season of each player nominated to be on their team. So all 16 teams will own the same 16 players, but each with a different version of that player. The other 9 rosters spots will be filled with teammates of your 16 drafted players.

# But wait a minute... If every player only has 8 to 11 seasons, how can each person own a different version of that player? This is the new Double-Draft Special rule. In an attempt at getting new players into this player pool, each player will be allowed to be selected TWICE during the draft. But the catch is, a player can only be selected once per league. So after the alignment is determined, there will be two separate drafts (using the same player pool) happening simultaneously.

* Note that if a player played 7 years, but played for 2 different teams in one season, that counts as 8 seasons (you'll understand why after reading the remaining rules ). To determine number of player seasons, choose Pos = ALL, Min Games = 0, Check "Include Secondary Positions" and set Season Type = Full/Combined. Both teams of a multi-team player can be drafted (but you must choose the partial or combined season). New rule - if you choose a the higher salaried full season version of a player during the draft, you can switch to the partial season when you submit your roster. However, you cannot switch from partial to full season. (The opposite would be true if the partial season is more expensive than the full season - it's rare but it's possible).

The 16 nominated players will include 10 hitters (including C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, OF, C/IF) and 6 pitchers (no RP requirement). For players who played more than one position, there will be some leeway on which position he qualifies at (i.e., Alex Rodriguez can be 3b or ss). The two extra hitters will include a fourth OF and either an IF or C.

Upon signup, post your nominated player (and the season you want to roster) in the forum. I will choose my player after at least five players have been selected. Once all 16 players are chosen, I'll determine the division alignment and post the round 1 draft orders. We'll have two 15 round drafts to select the other 15 seasons used for each player. Draft order for each round will be based on the cumulative salary going into that round (lowest salary drafts first).

Here's where it gets fun
The remaining 9 roster spots must be filled with teammates of your drafted players (including the player you nominated). They must be from the same season. No Twisting. Nominated players cannot be used as teammates. If you draft a player season with 2+ teams, you choose which version of that season you want, and can only take teammates from that team. (This is how a player who played 7 years, but had a multi-team season can be allowed. Or similarly, a player who played 6 years, w/ two multi-team seasons is allowed, etc.). There is no limit on number of teammates per drafted player. Many drafted players will not have any teammates rostered. Some will have two or more. Usually, your nominated player will have a few good teammate options.

Quicker Draft: 6-Hour Rule: Starting with round 3, if six hours elapse after the last made pick, the person who is due up may be skipped and the draft can continue as normal. The skipped person can jump in anytime to make his overdue pick. The 6-hour rule only is in effect during the hours of 9 AM to 11 pm EST. So let's assume person A makes a pick at 7:30 pm EST and person B is due up. No pick made that evening. Person C wakes up and sees no pick has been made by person B. The six-hour rule would take effect at 11:30 am (3.5 hours the night before + 2.5 hours in the morning). Person C can skip person B and make his pick. Person D can make his pick, Person E can make his pick, etc.

The point is that folks should make a point in checking in at least once every 6 hours. Drafts are more fun when things are moving. Nothing sucks the fun out of a draft more than somebody disappearing for a day.

The easiest way to determine if a player qualifies to be nominated is to set your search option for 1961-2021 and choose Season Type = Full/Combined. Set min games = 0, and uncheck "include secondary positions" so DH-only types are included. The number of seasons that come up should total 8-11.

For example, David Murphy has 11 seasons. (You are able to draft or use a partial season).
