Round Two - League 09 - COMPLETED! Topic

Things to remember:

Team Building: The combinations are listed with the better team named first, followed by the weaker team second. Your roster can have no more than TEN players from the better franchise and the rest must come from the weaker franchise. For example, if you chose the “1903-1904: Philadelphia Athletics – Chicago White Sox” in League Two, you can only have ten players from the Athletics and the other fifteen players must come from the White Sox.

Clones! You're allowed ONE per team. It can be either a pitcher or a position player – and it must come from one of your two years and one of your two franchises. In other words, if you have the 1919-1920 Brooklyn Robins/Boston Red Sox, you can use the 1919 version of Babe Ruth but you can’t use the 1920 version since that player is from the Yankees. Also, I'm not sure if this will even come up but - if, for example, the 1919-1920 New York Yankees/Boston Red Sox was a choice, you COULD use both versions of Ruth (as your clone of course) since he was on both of your listed franchises.

NO CAP – Build the best roster you can from your combo.

Clones: Just one per team as mentioned above.

Designated Hitter: Yes
Waiver Wire: No
Injuries – Turned On
Trades: No
A.A.A.: No

You may use either partial or full season stats of any player who had a split season - as long as the stats indicate it was for your franchise.

Stadium – You must use a stadium that existed during the time-frame of your combo AND was the home ballpark for one of your two franchises. If that ballpark isn’t in the database, you must use WhatIfSports Park.

Every pick can and must include their division choice with their team selection.

Those of you who have competed with me in leagues (such as many of those run by schwarze) which include the opportunity to provide post-draft writeups might remember that I tend to utilize an offense first, defense optional method of team building. Well folks, hell hath frozen over. In the absence of, at least to me, an obvious alternative, I've decided to beta test this whole "defense" thing, and have <<gulp>> chosen a team based primarily on the extent to which they can flash the leather. I feel sort of...gross...but we'll see how it goes.

1981-1982: California Angels – Cincinnati Reds
AL West

79-80 KC/OAK AL East

I mentioned a few times that I had built about 200 rosters (10-15 per league) prior to the draft. As teams get crossed off my list, I start building more rosters in leagues that I still need to draft in. Honest to God... I just discovered this team about an hour ago, and the numbers bumped them up to the the top of my list of available teams.

At this point in the draft, it's impossible to find a team that's really good in offense, defense and pitching... so finding one that's good in 2 out of 3 is usually good enough. This team is really good in pitching (thanks to a great bullpen) and above average in defense. The offense is weak.

1981-1982: Atlanta Braves - New York Yankees
AL East

AL Central

1983-84 Yankees/Indians

This was one of the teams I was considering with Gossage clones, Ron Davis, and Righetti. Idk the offense just scared me off them
