I have a AAA SS i'd like to bring up to the big club early this season. How many games do I wait to avoid the 1 year of ML experiance kicking in?

Assuming that your guy has less than 15 days previous MLB experience, you'll have to wait for 20 days from the beginning of the AAA season.

Please note that he has to be on an MiLB roster for at least 20 days in order to prevent the entire season from counting towards ML service time. The AAA season is what counts - so since the MLB season typically starts a day or two earlier, you have to be careful which schedule you look at it.

Also, remember that it's HBD days that matters; not games.

Safer to wait until the minor league team has 20 games. Don't count days, you might miss by ONE cycle, and you'd be screwed.

After the team plays 20 games (and there are always one or two off days during the first weeks), you can bring up your AAA guy without burning a year.

No need to use up a year of ML service just to get him in one or two games earlier.

Errr, Carnivore suggested "days", I suggested "games" as being a safer route.

Very needed.

So, if I were to suggest waiting 40 days, or games, would that be more helpful than your post? It would certainly be a safer route.

Perhaps. ebpyle's post seemed to indicate that he was looking for a fast route as well. My solution, more so than carnivore's or yours, seems to balance the considerations of NOT burning a ML year and getting the guy in the majors asap.

Good rule of thumb, so you don't have to count days (because some people here are courting trouble when they run out of fingers and toes):

If your minor league season starts on a Monday morning with the AM cycle, do your promotions the following Monday after the AM cycle.

That ends up being 23 days or so, which is "safe".

Shocker. It came from tec.

Not surprisingly, my one post in this thread (prior to this one) directly addressed the topic at hand.

While none of your three did.

Your one post simply answered the same question for the third time. Needlessly, I might add.

Neither you nor todd claimed that carnivore's postw as "wrong". You simply added more gibberish.

It's my new pet peeve project. If someone answers a question that's already been answered on the same page, I'm taking it upon myself to point out the redundancy of the answers.

Okay then. Good luck with that.

Thanks. I figure I'll just follow you around to start. Should be 2-3 opportunities per day.

I leave for golf at around 3:15pm. My calendar is pretty clear until then. You'll probably get a few more chances this afternoon.
