When you talk about "pull downs", are you referring perhaps the last 75 players of D-I that might be available? How far into D-I do recommend trying to get players?

It really depends on your prestige. The highest ranked high school senior I've gotten is the #135 SG with an A+ prestige school.

Any guy that will give you a backup can be pulled down.

You better hope and pray that a school at a higher division than you doesn't decide to go after your guy after you sink so much cash into him so early. You might pull him down that early, but you won't lock him up -- he will still consider other schools and they won't have to spend near as much as you to pry the recruit away...

What is a good estimate of dollars (assuming they are less than 200 miles) to spend on a pulldown? And what is the most effective way to get their attention (home visits?, campus visits?)?

No risk, no reward.

Good to know blackdog. How do you get them to accept a home visit in the second cycle? Or, are you maxing out scouting trips and not bothering with shaking hands and kissing babies...

Thats what I do. Hit 'em up in the first few cycles (main targets) then when my fall backs drop snag em with a promise start if the main ones don't sign.

All scouting trips and phone calls. I have a nice balance of the 2 that gets guys to consider me in 1 cycle every time but Im not gonna post it.

superdawg17 the real answer is never unless you plan on moving up to D-2. you can't pull D-1 players all the way down to D-3. don't waste your money trying.

once in D-2 it depends on your prestige and milage away the recruit is, if you stay within the 70 mile radius I've pull down ranked players as high as #96.

blackdog it's not no secret, it's 1 phone call and the rest are scouting trips. if your doing more then 1 coach or player call your just wasting money that could be spent elsewhere.

Let's say at D3 you're trying to pull down a guy who is considering a D2 C prestige Sim AI school. I have, in the past, just given 10 evals and had him considering me and the other team as well, and then just proceeded from there to get him. Also, I've pulled someone down and given 10 evals and had them considering me and only me after that pull down. If you put in like 15 or 20 evals and he's not even considering you, does that mean someone else is trying to pull him down? Or more likely does that mean that the D2 Sim AI team happened to put a decent amount of money into him?

to me the cost of trying to get him away from a D-2 sim is to much, esp. if it's the sims #1 choice or if the sim has a lot of open spots. I would rather find a player maybe a little farther away with about the same skillset that's not considering another team.
