recruiting/booster gifts Topic

does anyone know what happens when you offer a recruit booster gifts? I assume there a difference in penalties between a throwback jersey and 10,000 cash?

If you get caught (which is very often if not always) you could just get put on probation, or players get suspended, you could get banned from the postseason, you could lose scholarships for the next season.

Its not a good idea to try IMO

Hope that helps..

Check out my St Louis team..........

I wish booster gifts were "funner", they don't work and you will get caught. It does almost nothing for you except get you on probation.

Just out of curiousity, what would happen if I won my conference tourney while I'm on probation? I'm surprised that I even get to play in it.

If you're just on probation, you can still play in any of the postseason tournaments, to include the PIT or NT. If it says "Banned from postseason", then you wouldn't get to play.

Boosters will work if you find the right players for them.

I tried one time and got caught. Not worth it in my opinion. Especially if you are planning on moving up. I did it at D2. For that year and the current year, I cannot move to any D1 or D2 school because I still have a poor reputation. Does anyone know how fast the reputation will get back to normal?

about 1/3 to maybe 1/2 ish a letter grade per season...assuming no broken promises to recruits, no cutting players you recruited or no new violations...in my experience anyways...

Sure you can - hit "All" on the timeframe dropdown. Searching by your username gives 4 pages of results going back to 10/09. If old threads should be necromanced is another thing, but eh.

Don't do it.  I did it one time at Duke after emotions got the better of me for getting poached.  I did a lot of it and got the player.  Problem was, he was declared ineligble (forever) and I forfeited every game he played in (which was ~10).  I went down to a coach grade F and Duke's prestige was hit (along with a terrible season).

Don't do it.
