To all my fellow live players.....we have to stop coming up with new themes for a little while. There are a ton of good leagues out there to join, so we have to stop flooding the market with leagues.

It spreads the talent out to much.



(And yes, Arvid, this goes for you too, Mr. Has 25 leagues for people to join)

Think of us as a nation, and the leagues are our economy. Lets make the value rise with less leagues....more combining of ideas. Then we will see less leagues sit for 60 days. I believe.....I BELIEVE!!!!!

Although I like the idea of choice (My man got 25 leagues? ... really?) ... Ditto, sloadrock! ... Agree with you dude! ... We need a cease fire for at least the rest of October! ...

I have four well-thought out, highly attractive leagues. Come one, come all.

In fairness to Arvid, I thought he only had four (I signed up for 3 of them) ...

I don't really think the problem is the abundance of leagues, it's the shortage of owners. It seems like 50% of the owners are in almost all of the leagues, and almost all of the rest in each league that fills are on every day or two and have already signed up for anything they find interesting. Most leagues don't seem to fill these days until some people take 2nd teams. What we really need is some more LIVE players. I think if people were less antagonistic towards LIVE noobies we might have more players. That would probably be more helpful than letting good league ideas go to waste...

AND I hope that a lot of the Live players that we have that play only a certain type of league would want to try something new & fun. New combinations of players to use. 1/2 of WIS about putting interesting teams together. Building Teams...

I hope some guys break out of their comfort zone and join some of the more interesting & unique Leagues out there. Hey- don't be afraid of a draft League-- or any League that would put together an interesting mix of players on your team and in the League to play against. Seems to be a lot of good Leagues out there that never make it past 1/2 full...

I agree with sload. I think too many leagues are trying to fill at the same time. But the hard thing to control is who decides on what leagues are available? I wish we had a good system in place. It seems like we have about 30-50 live players, and that isn't alot when you consider what the sim guys have.

I also believe that the newbies would come over if they were welcomed but the hard part about that is most don't understand how much time goes in to making a min, which makes fellow owners fall short of the min when they need it. I think that is why guys are so hard on them.

It really is a shame though that so many good leagues (USA, Uno, etc.) go unfilled for so long that it is a surprise when any league fills now. Maybe WIS could help LIVE a bit and maybe charge 1/2 price for the first season to fellow sim players to get them to try it out.

It's sad when I have to go join an interesting Non-Live League because we can't get 24 guys over here to play in it...

im hearing this message loud and clear, therefore ive disbanded my newest league for now, ill consider putting a new 5 by 5 up in nov or dec.

how bout a couple guys join the best user name league of habsfan, that is a very fun league to play...only need a few more guys

The league I have up in the forums is the first league I've started in half a year. From what I've heard it is a good idea and will hopefully fill. We'll see I guess. Though I like playing in leagues with arvid and have enjoyed the challenge I think starting 4 leagues at once is kinda lame, whether or not they are great leagues or not. Just stagger them a little.

Does anyone know how fast open leagues are filling these days? Maybe people who frequent these forums and are also in open leagues could encourage "newbies" (I hate that term) to take a look at theme leagues.

I don't think discouraging new themes is the way to go.
The good leagues usually fill.
I for one come up with new ideas all the time and am interested when others do the same

I think it's a combination of many factors, with the number of leagues low on the list: The economy, time pressures on some owners affected by the economy, players signing up then playing almost no live games, frustration over frequent crashes or system down time, a handful of owners who only play in their own leagues, owners signing up for leagues then vanishing when it's time to play, etc.

Staggering the posting of leagues only helps if some of them fill. I've got five leagues going, but the original posting of them was spread out, generally coinciding with the end of a previous season. Unless we want owners to give up on ideas that stall, this is going to happen with the limited # of players who sign up for more than a couple of leagues.
• 1922-39 draft league, 21 in, posted 5/7 (fifth in series of draft leagues; one previous installment took 7 months to fill)
• Blacklist League 6, 21 in, posted 6/16
• 2-Franchise League, full, posted 8/27
• USA Federation Season 15, 22 in, posted 9/19 (this one puzzles me; Season 13 took weeks to fill, so I posted S14 well before the end of that season and of course it filled in 24 hours, without anyone taking a second team. Naturally, this time around it has stalled for a month).
• willsauve's AAA Franchise League, full, posted 8/5 by willsauve, who asked me to run it when he became too busy to do so.

All are continuations of ongoing leagues, so it would seem unfair to owners who have played in the past for me to bail on them.

I would like to suggest to WIS to award Non-Live League WS or TOC winners with a free entry in a live league ... That may encourage more live league activity ...
