If you were the one in charge of HOOPS DYNASTY,

1) What would be your first move to increase business?

2) What would you address in the game(engine) first?

I really don't think WIS is hurting for income so maybe that's why they don't promote the game like they should. It is just a missed opportunity to gain additional revenue.

3) Do you think FOX/WHATIFSPORTS is a financial sound company?

1. would cross promote with other businesses more heavily.
2. So many things, but the most important thing would be to actually learn the game. Get 5-10 vet users and reallytalk with them about the issue.
3. Fox is obviously sound financially. Im assuming WIS is a profitable arm with little daily expense except for a few part time programmers.

I wouldn't respond to someone's ticket about HD with "Just telling you what the NBA scouts look at. Not having any specific interest in basketball I have no opinion either way on the stats."

I don't care what your interests are. It's your job to answer my questions not tell me why you can't/won't.

The individual match ups would be put in as soon as humanly possible. It solves the biggest flaw in this game.

1. Marketing, Marketing, Maketing, i don't know anyone that has heard of this game by any other means than word of mouth.

2. I would change the simss recruiting. I know it was tweeked to make them more competitive but all that does is suck up the good drop downs to lousy DI simm teams making it even harder to make actual strides in improving your team.

3. This day and age there is no such thing as a company being financially sound is there?

I love polo's idea of giving out d2 / d3 reward points based on the fullness of the conference (polo's was based on the world, so I modified it a bit) - 9 or more teams full d1 reward point, 6-8 teams 75% reward points, 5 or fewer, 50%.

I have seen first hand what happens in d3 when some of these vet coaches get motivated to recruit new players. I also have seen first hand how the conference can be far more fun than the game, trumping any of the annoying aspects. I think this would give an immediate boost to paid customers, both in terms of vets (the addicts) taking on more teams and for the tried and true recruitment of new players

By the way, this local franchising concept, is starting to make a comeback real life too, has a long way to go, but I feel it would be very effective in the game.

first thing I would do is give coach's a few tangible FACTS about how the offenses work relative to types of players needed, types of skills needed, etc Even at this stage in my career, I think I'd have trouble convincing most vet coaches that skill X is the most important to offense type Y, with the exception of FB, which obviously needs ATH / SP

I would start with a little info, and see how it worked, and feed us a little more if it worked well.

I also would make the offenses somewhat mirror how we coach, motion might be the best offense to run 3 guards, while flex the best offense to run 3 bigs for example, with triangle best for a shooting forward. of course, a great sf would still be able to function very well (best) in all 3.

I would also set player ratings with far fewer reds and greens, and the greens and blacks would both improve players slightly more with extra practice time, that coupled with slightly lower initial ratings would make practice planning relevant again, with improvement requiring more practice and starting from lower intitial spots, guys would not quit improving.

I have no idea the shape fox is in, I would guess, far worse than they were a few years ago, but still far better than most?

threedognite... i am the first then.. i saw an advertisement back in i believe 03.

please explain your marketing tragedy? you guys can't just sit here and say marketing, marketing.. without a plan.. so what would your plan be?

and for pink1 how would you plan on crosspromoting?

i am not saying they are bad ideas but not explained very well. if wis was this vague you guys would give them crap and ask for a better explanayion.

1) I'd cross promote on as many of the fox sports radio shows as possible. I'm sure many on here jumped onto WIS after hearing Lance McCallister talk about it on his radio show, locally in Cincy. Why not get Steve Zaben on board, Chris Meyers, etc... Additionally on the fox pregame show, I'd tought a WIS "who's got the edge" segement. I haven't paid real close attention, but it seems that they're weekly predictions do pretty well. Highlight a game or 2, then after that's run its coarse give the old "to get more matchup information, got to WWW.WIS.com...

2)I'd get rid of potential in D3. The game is hard enough on its own w/o having to worry about what potential this kid has vs that kid, etc.. Let new coaches learn the basics of the game, w/o having to worry about potential, then introduce it in D2. Actually I'd seperate several aspects of the game into varying levels so the game got more in depth as you went along.

3) I have no idea, if they're making money now, then I'd have to say yes, as it seems the 2 games I play here (HD & HBD) are stuggling to get new coaches. I'd cross promote varying games, look to long time users that have spent a decent chunk on this game and say, hey if you purchase 1 season of HBD, we'll give you an additional season for free, plus a season of HD for free. Or do it for GD, clutch dynasty racing, etc... Probably what drives coaches away more than anything is the staleness of the game after playing for enough time. Give them a good reason to try another game here, and you may just lift up the whole site.

i do not believe hd will ever be filled again( atleast not for many yrs. to come) but i do not blame it all on wis the economy as a whole is in a way diiferent place now than it was when hd first started. i also believe wis created way too many hd worlds too fast..

by the way who the hell is lance mcCallister?

so basically punish coaches who are in less full conferences. quite the marketing ploy for retention.
11/9/2009 9:24 AM
no punishment intended, the less full conferences would be treated exactly how they are right now, although I suppose one could view the current treatment as punishment?

I think the retention ship has more or less sailed, what is needed are ideas to add many new players, I think the segment of fox sports tv would have to be a far better idea than the one I came up with for gaining new players, I could see the 'real' bobby knight being worth a couple of 100 new players for example - if he particiapted in the game and discussed the results on tv once a week or so for 60 seconds ?

11/9/2009 9:36 AM
I wonder if the game gaining a couple of 100 new coaches is worth 60 seconds of espn air time once a week, probably not???
11/9/2009 9:38 AM
ok oldr please explain how taking reward points away will gain more user's?
11/9/2009 9:41 AM
i have been at lemoyne in wooden undermy two names since season 6, obviously it is my secision to be there. there is no way i should be penalized just because the conf. is half full.

do you realize a team that goes 0-26 but somehow gets 3 conf. tourney wins wouls get more of a credit than if i get to the 2nd rd. of the nat. tourney.
11/9/2009 9:45 AM
i personally would take the credits away from the teams that do not at least make the pit. and put that money back into the reward point system.
