This will be where owners will post their 30 Rookie/1st Season Players from their selected franchise.

You may only nominate players who began their careers in or after 1900 (sorry im not a big fan of 1800s baseball). Ten players will be your keepers & their combined salary will determine our draft order. Draft picks may NOT be traded in initial draft. Each round of draft you will lose one of your 30 nominees but at the end of each rd you will get to pull FOUR back to your team.

We will conduct four rounds of drafting and the Drafting Will take place on weekdays only. the draft will be every other day to give time for owners to post pullbacks. Ex of possible draft...Monday, Wednesday, Friday and following Monday.

The initial draft will be a snake style draft (1-16, 16-1, 1-16, 16-1).
11/11/2009 5:36 PM
When submitting your 30 keepers. They must be players who are listed as First Season Players for your franchise. In most cases these are simply Rookie players. If a player played his first season with two teams refer to baseball-reference.com to see who he debuted for, that team will get his rights. A player cannot belong to two teams.

Please list position players and pitchers separately so i can just cut and paste them into draft lists below.

Also you can send me your ten keepers via sitemail so as not to reveal your ten player salary which will determine your draft position. If you are using a split season rookie in your ten please note and you will have to use that split or Full in first season.

Once you select your 30 players you will NO longer have access to your franchises rookie pool until they return to draft pool further down the line.

Since I will be verifying each rookie and keeper list salary total I'd appreciate if you submitted your lists as Final Lists...ok ill let you make one change...just dont drive me crazy and keep changing

from jfranco77:
Since this is loosely based on the UPL which I run, I can probably help out with the "rookie" thing - at least I can explain how it is in the UPL, and gene can explain if it's the same here. In the UPL, it would be whatever their first WIS season was. So you can use the "first/last season" search set to "first" to find your players.

In this case, it would NOT necessarily be who they played their first MLB game for. It would be their first WIS season... for example, Freddy Sanchez had some ABs with Boston in 2001 and 2002, but his first WIS season is 2005 with the Pirates. In the UPL he is a Pirate. he is a pirate here as well

If a player is traded mid-season he will show up with both teams as "first" so you have to see who he actually started with. So, for example, Vicente Romo has "first" seasons for both CLE and LAD. If you check baseball-reference, his first game of the '68 season was with the Dodgers, so he's a Dodger.

16 team progressive...4 playoff teams...No Cap or Clones!
upon entering league owner will select one of the 16 franchises in parentheses listed below. They will submit a list of 30 players who debuted with that franchise in 1900-2009. Each owner will keep 10 of those players to start with an opportunity to keep 16 more and select 4 from the other franchises. Season one will include all of these rookies and follow careers each season.

please use team names listed. these are minor league affiliates of franchises.

You will get to keep 10 players from the list provided and we will hold a 4 rd draft. you will only lose one player per round of the draft and will pull back 4 at the end of each round. therefore your final roster will include 26 of your orig players and 4 you draft. 25 of those players will be on your major league roster and the other 5 you will draft in aaa spots. NO trades in initial draft!

The order of the draft will be determined by the total salary of the 10 keepers. the lowest salaried team will pick first, etc. we will utilize a snake draft for the remaining three rounds.

at 120 game mark of the season the four worst teams will be in a weighted lottery using random.org. this will determine the top four draft choices. however if a team fails to win 48 games during the course of the season they forfeit their lottery pick and drop to the last pick of the 1st rd. the remaining order of the draft is determined by record.
at 120 mark each owner will submit a list of 25 keepers and 5 cuts/retired. those 5 players will be entered into the draft pool if they have any remaining seasons.
after season one we will draft first year players who debuted with Angels & rangers from 1961-2009
season 2 draft- Astros & Mets debuts 1962-2009
season3- Royals & Expos 1969-2009
Season 4- Brewers & Padres 1969-2009
season 5 Seattle & toronto 1977-2009
if we get this far ill explain my plan for further drafts upon joining. each season ending draft will be six rounds to allow for trading and returning to 30 players.

Stadium-Must use a stadium your franchise used at some pt in its existence. you can change any season however once you leave you may not return to that stadium.

Yes to DH, trades. in trades Current & next season picks only can be traded, no players to be named later

commish holds the right to ammend rules based on suggestions by prospective owners. once league is full all rule changes will be placed to a vote.

injury off. live play limited to next series. use split or full season of player based on team needs

IR- since we are not following one year each season of progressive there will be NO IR just use next available WIS season.

cannot trade draft picks in initial draft. after draft trading may begin can only trade picks from upcoming.
