Would an overall rating of 450 be the same for DivII & DivIII?

yes, ratings mean the same in every division

In theory yes, but certain ratings will perform much better in lower divisions. Like a 90 speed guy will be a better player in D3 than a 90 speed at D1 due to so many guys being 90 speed. In fact I can say with a pretty good amount of confidence that if the only above average rating a D3 perimeter player was his 90 speed he'd still be a good player.

So if I just drafted(Recruited, for the typo obsessive) a guard who, using conservative estimates for potential, could end up

Speed: 86 - 99 (Speed 65, high potential)
ATH: 43 - 56 (ATH 36, Avg potential)
PASS: 70 - 83 (Pass 49, High potential)
BH: 30 - 43 (BH 23, Average potential)
PER: 34 - 47 (Per: 27, Average potential)
DEF: 37 - 50 (Def: 30, Average potential)

Good prospect? The low BH worries me, but I couldn't pass up on a 65 speed with high potential combined with the 49 passing with high potential at dIII. . . especially on a team largely running a fast-break/press.

when did HD let coaches start drafting?
11/21/2009 12:34 PM
Why is that typo even remotely relevant? Obviously meant recruited. Said drafted. Whoops.
11/21/2009 12:37 PM
maybe you found some sort of loophole, no need to be so defensive.

That's an awful guard - he can't take care of the ball or shoot. No matter how fast he is, the guy can't play basketball.

This is division three, not division one. There is, or so I have been told, a difference.

That guard will be above avg in d3

when recruiting for my DIII team, I start looking at 50 for BH and P as a minimum for PG, for SG will possibly drop in the 40's for BH and P as long as PER is in the 50's

Been awhile since I've had a D3 team, but I would think that his speed will cover up alot of the other problems he may have.

If it is a press as well, with a fast break? Would that make a difference, given how impressive

well above average.

once he matures, there is not a team in d3 that wouldnt love to have him and he would start for the majoirty.

the key difference between him being a pretty good player and a really good player will be getting every last point that you can in his BH and PE. i dont agree that bh will kill him, even at 30something, but if you can get that and the PE to mid40ish, the kid starts to look reeeeal good.

i wouldnt worry as much about the def and pass.

good luck
