I wouldn't redshirt either one of them. Neither will be anything special with the lack of scoring ability, but I would play #1 first. He can be a solid role player with decent ath, pretty good def/speed and okay rebounding. The other guy will turn into a solid scorer in about 2 seasons with his ath/speed, but imo he isn't worth redshirting unless these are div III players. He doesn't have anything else going for him other then his ath/speed.

this is division III. My opinion is that for division III i think both sfs are very special. Your not gonna find too many sf at d3 with these skills and potentials.

It depends on what you need out of your backup SF. If you need scoring then you have to redshirt #1 as #2 is more likely to put up a few points with his solid enough low post ability. Now if you are just looking for a good defender to create turnovers then redshirt #2.

I'd redshirt #1. It'd be great to have him for 4 years with a speed of 70+

Neither one of them will score and they both have terrible work ethic. I guess if I had to redshirt one of them I'd redshirt number 1

I wouldn't want to RS anyone with a WE below 30.

neither one of them will score? and both have terrible work ethic? come on seriously........ok jfinn19 those are just silly comments....you do know this is a d3 team right? these two sfs are top notch for d3...and i didn't get them to be scorers .......for man2man def these are blue chips

but having low per or lp does not mean the player is not gonna score....how is it jfinn that your div 2 player thomas jensen shot over fifty percent this year yet at first glance he should in your opinion be a terrible shot. lol .......per of 25, but no, his speed and ath make him a better shot. too many of you guys seem to be hung up on perimeter stats and i just don't think thats the end all be all with scorers. and being a great scorer doesn't make you a great player. mitch richmond could sure look pretty shooting a jay, but his defense was horrible. is he great? hell no.

i would take a better ath/spd guy over a perimeter guy all day long.

terrible work ethic, come on, its low, but terrible is for the player that is so low that his overall stats drop during the offseason.

"I wouldn't want to RS anyone with a WE below 30."

why not? got a reason.....why would a work ethic of 28 dramatically change your redshirting opinion?

....

I would redshirt the guy with 24 WE, because player number 1 will probably be better right away because he is a better rebounder and has good speed. These guys will be good defenders but you can't say that these guys will be guys you could possibly put 12 distro into and have them consistently shoot above 50% without a lot of turnovers. Even in D3, 18 LP, 28 PER, 26 BH and 25 PASS with 3 of those low potential...he is not going to put up 10 points a game skunk. But that doesn't mean he is a bad player. Both of these guys are good small forwards, but they are NOT going to be your number one on offense or even necessarily your number two. Also, generally a WE below 30 will have little offseason improvement and they may even get worse over the offseason and that low of work ethic won't necessarily take full advantage of some of those great potentials. I wouldn't criticize two guys who have won championships in D3 either when you ask for advice.

I think also that SF number 2, because he does not have low potential in the skills areas, would be a good option on offense as a 5th year senior because he will be athletic and a decent skill player.

a guy with a work ethic of 28, when playing, how quickly will that go over thirty?..quick... and then he'll be improving at a fairly normal rate...adding two points of work ethic won't be hard to do.....for the other guy, with work ethic of 24, he'll get to thirty as well at some point.

i never said they would be my number one player...people keep making odd assumptions. i asked who to redshirt? nothing more then that. people on this board seem to want to add an opinion to a cut and dry question. if they are gonna chirp in i'll chirp back.

pick player one or player two, is that hard? no.

outside of that i know i have two great young defensive sfs with great potential. a sf starting with 67 speed could end up at 87 speed and that would be ridiculous for d3 and yeah by his junior or senior year he could be easily a ten pt a game scorer, but also i don't really care as long as he shuts down shooting threats, and he will.

The point is to start at 30 or above not go over 30. You made the comment about having low lp and per doesn't mean they won't score, and that's true, but number one won't have good pass or bh either. I would take the ath/spd guy over the per guy too. But starting off at WE below 30 means the recruit will not be a stud and I think most veteran coaches would agree with that. Redshirt for the lower WE guy though might give him more of an opportunity to reach his potential

i've had low work ethic guys before.......once you go over 30, the next season they improve at a normal rate........i had ronald cooper on my redlands team, he started with a 26, the next season he started at a thirty and improved more then anyone else on my team. its not a concern for the WE 28 guy, mr. 24 eh, i'll roll the dice.

I didn't see anyone say that they wouldn't score because of their low perimeter. They won't score because they can't shoot, can't pass, can't dribble and suck in the lost post. Using Jensen as an example, he is fast, athletic, and most importantly he can dribble. Also, he's only played in 12 games so the numbers could go way down.

I don't know how you categorize blue chip recruits, but if they can't score how are they blue chip recruits? It's weird that you keep would keep arguing with multiple coaches who have had success at the D3 level. Your not going to convince us that your guys are superstars.
