I can't help but wonder why Army isn't in and Georgia Tech and BC is. This being my last season, I was hoping to go out with a final appearance.

Without knowing anything about the other two schools I think it might have to do with your record versus top 50 rpi teams. Or your 1 win over an at large school and possibly your road record.

BC has absolutely no case for being in the national Tournament.

They both were only like 2 or 3 games over .500 and 50+ RPI.

Sos? My assumption is they had a good 40 + spots on Army.

BC

57 RPI
15-12 (7-9 conference)
4-6 in last 10
4 straight losses

Yeah I could see it going down either way. I think that BC got the nod due to having played many more top games. This doesn't seem too bad imo.

Yup. Army tried to game the system by playing 10 road games. Play a real schd and this isn't even a question why they are not in because there RPI would not be inflated. They had a solid RPI, but no resume to go with it. Flip the coin though and BC/Georgia Tech should not be in. 2 more wins MINIMUM and they have a case, but with only 15 they got rewarded to much for losing to good teams.

I accept the games sent to me. Do I try to balance my schedule? Hell no, do you?

I played a tough pre-conference schedule and lost to 41, 4, and 31 rpi by a total of 5 points. I beat #14 rpi. So a couple of points makes this discussion moot. I hardly think my schedule is something to sneer at.

I'm not saying I am better than those teams in all categories but I am in most of the ones that I thought were supposed to matter.

Er, their OOC schedule has the following RPIs: 41, 12, 91, 67, 85, 14, 4, 130, 269 (sim took over from a good coach), 31 -- all but one game on the road. Sounds to me like they played an awfully tough schedule. Not their fault they're in the Patriot -- where they did their part going 15-1. I guess, what the heck was Army supposed to do? Win the CT, I suppose -- it's often the only way from lower-level conferences. But geez -- don't blame the guy for "gaming the system." That's a tough OCC schedule for anyone.

Lizak beat me to the response. But he's right. The real question at hand here is whether a second Patriot team ever deserves to go to the NT and, as in RL, the answer may just be -- almost never ever. Might just be a sad truth.

Depends on what you mean a balanced schedule. If you mean to balance out your entire schedule making your SOS as good as it can be, I would say yes you should always balance your schedule. If you mean balance by home v away games then no, likely you shouldn't.

I lost two of those games by 1 point each. You don't think I would have won those games if they were at home? Isn't that the downside of playing on the road? Or are you saying that it's not worth even 1 point?
