Figured I'd start a tracking thread, even though most of the stuff I do is in Excel, not on the Internet.

After a 12-year tenure at DIII Lawrence (my alma mater) where I built the Vikings from a C- school to an A+ and a national championship, I jumped to DI Vermont. My dream school is probably Northwestern, but jslotman looks solidly in place there, so I plan to either:
a) build Vermont into a solid mid-major,
b) jump to an active mid-major conference like the MVC, or
c) jump to the Big Six.

Here's my résumé after my third season at DI:

In recruiting, I'll have roughly $30K (sucky conference) to fill one or two schollies - I'm willing to take a walkon, as I'm already 10-deep for next season. I'd like to sign a big man or a SF, but pickings are looking very slim in the far Northeast. I might do what I did last year, though - go very aggressively after Vermont's Mr. Basketball, a 2-star C (pending his potential, of course.) After all, if I can't control the Green Mountain State, I don't deserve to be called a mid-major.

That's all for now - I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens to my prestige. Here's hoping for a C or C-!

You will be on the border of C-/C. Should be able to get a local 2-star with that. As someone with a B- and 6 open, I wouldn't want to spend what it would take to get him away from you unless he was a great potential guy.

Up to C - I can be a little aggressive or lay back. Either way, I'm not so much of a fish now.

Recruit quality looks down this year, and there's only one DI recruit in Vermont. He sucks... so do I settle for him or play for someone better?

Recruit quality is down everywhere. The 3 stars I am looking at this year are closer to the 1 stars of 4-5 seasons ago.

Your dream school is really Northwestern? Why, pray tell?

Both parents are alums, grew up on the near Northwest side. I've been a Wildcat fan basically since birth.

Well, if there were a better job, I'd take it, so don't lose hope. THere's also the fact that I borderline stink, so there's always that.

Corn, if you ever take Northwestern, I'll take Wisconsin if it ever opens up. That will be fun.

Your dream job is NW? Man, how do you get out of bed every morning?

(And I say that as a long-time coach at NW-Allen, and a Chicago resident.)

(On a more positive note, I think the sf you signed was way underrated. No way that kid's a 1-star. Nice work.)

Dalter - got that guy considering me for 3HV, 3CV, 2ST, scholly on the first cycle... then no competition at all the rest of the way.
