BPI is Rating for YOU! Topic

Hello gentlemen.

I have 3 different ranking systems (1. SOS based on W-L SOS, 2. SOS based on opponent overall team rating, 3. SOS based on opponent overall team rating, however your team rating is factored in, thus taking into account a spread of sorts.) that need testing and that I would like to apply to HD, just for the sake of doing so...I just need willing participants and information.

If you'd like me to rank your team(s), please provide the following, preferably in spreadsheet format. I use Microsoft Works Database and Microsoft Access, however I can view Excel files and copy and paste, so here's what I would need if you want to be ranked...

1. Your team name, division, overall team rating, W-L, RPI, and SOS listed somewhere To better understand team names and worlds please list the team name like this....I coach Armstrong Atlantic State in Tarkanian in season 41, thus it would read Armstrong Atlantic State - Tark41...or say you coach Curry in Phelan and its season 21....Curry - Phelan21.

2. Now put these each in individual fields in this order, Points For, Points Against, Opponent, Opponent W, Opponent L, Opponent RPI, Opponent SOS, and Opponent overall team rating AS RATED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME HAS BEEN SIMULATED. Gathering the overall team ratings of all of your opponents will be tough I know, but I'm going to do it for my team and I hope you all would do it for yours as well.

I'm only taking real submissions for this thing, please no fake schedules, records, etc...I want this to be a straight forward, classy ranking that has integrity. I will post updates from time to time...I don't really have a set schedule or timetable for that, but I would like to put it up on my website eventually...so if you'd like me to rank your teams like only I can, send me your information.

If you have any comments, questions, suggestions, or otherwise, please ask...I'll answer anything.

Take care and I look forward to doing this.

Trevor

If you want to do this pull the info from the worlds yourself.

Lazy.

If nobody else does this, I'll just do it for my team...its no skin off my back. I'm just adding another wrinkle to this game to see who the better/best coaches, teams, etc are using previously unseen and unused formulas. I'm not asking for anything more out of anyone else that I'm not going to do myself. Thank you for your input.

I'll for sure do it, though I am a new coach so don't expect a great team from me for a few seasons! lol

Great to hear it man...I'm an average coach myself so I'm not going to blow anyone out of the water in these rankings either. I hope we do get some of the big boys to contribute as well so we have something to shoot for/admire/look up to lol.

I agree with zhawks. I doubt you will get a lot of big name coaches to contribute. It will go much faster if you do this yourself.

I might choose a select few to do on top of my own...we'll see.

If you really WANT to do it, the suggestion I woudl have would. be to just pick a few conferences and do all of the teams in them and see how it comports. A conference is a starting sample where all of the teams have a large chunk of schedule in common with eachother and all of the teams are together where theya re easier to get to.

Wouldnt you need every single team to have an accurate ranking?

YOu could easily rank a team just based on their games played within the conference. It woudl be sort of like creating a miniature rating, I suppose.(Shrugs)

The Brief Pain Index?

I'm not a big proponent of the RPI system. My Howard Payne team which was inherited this season is 18-0, but with an RPI of 67. Who's to argue we aren't the best team when it comes to RPI?

RPI should factor in margin of victory.

Yikes. There's like 100 reasons why it shouldn't. That's not the way to fix RPI, which, I agree, is flawed.
