GO NOLES!!! DONT CALL IT A COMEBACK!

Best wishes to meyer and family.

Honestly there is a lot of skeptics to this considering nothing was heard about previously and then considering the shape gates may be in next year with loss of coordinators and about half the starters.

We'll see how the story unfolds as more comes out in the news.

I hear Charlie Weis may be available.

He has a cyst on his brain that is aggravated by stress, and I have a fairly well-placed source that says he had a mild heart attack after one of the SEC games late in the season.

I'm not a UF or Meyer fan, but to think he'd orchestrate a crazy charade because there's a chance the Gators might be headed for a down year seems utterly ridiculous to me on every level.

EDIT: Ah, I see poncho is a Miami fan, that would explain the ridiculousness. Well, as a Badger fan, I wish you good luck this week.

The cyst info was in his book, and in a recent SI Article. It was after the SEC Championship game he went to the hospital for "dehydration" but ESPN reports that he was having chest pains at that time, and that resulted in the discovery of his hear muscle defect.

The cyst thing was a known issue previously and was never enough for him to step down when the team was on top. I'm not saying that it is not the cause or case for actual health condition and do wish him the best in any case and will always give the benefit of the doubt for a medical issue. It's just the timing seems off to a lot of people when no health issues were being reported before.

Like i said, he's had this issue since the early 2000's and it just seems in the one year they seem to have come down from the peak they've had for the past few seasons, now it's an issue for him.

This isn't me being a miami fan to try to throw dirt, this is just someone saying what some people speculate. In the end, best wishes to meyer and his family and Good luck to you guys in our bowl game.

. .so now he might just be taking a 'leave of absence'?
12/27/2009 3:57 PM
that's the current word. I think that might be worse for the program than him just leaving.

Yeah, I tend to agree. It makes it pretty easy for coaches to say to blue-chip recruits, "How are you gonna go to UF? They don't even know who the coach is going to be ..."

But as far as anything seeming shady ... he's got stud recruits streaming in there, even if they're a 2- or 3-loss team next season (which I still think is a big If), they're still set up to be a powerhouse for as long as Urban is there. I don't doubt that there may be some people (especially in other parts of the SEC or Florida) making these kinds of statements, but I just don't think it holds up to any sincere, logical thought process.

I just think he's sick of the constant pain from that headache thing and wants to hang with his kids a little bit before they all go off to college. Its too bad the boosters and alumni guilted him into staying. He earned the right to take some real time off, not just an off season where, with the new season looming, he will constantly be worked up over recruiting and everything else that goes into being a top 1 percent coach.

NEW ORLEANS (AP)—Florida coach Urban Meyer changed his mind Sunday and said he was taking an indefinite leave of absence instead of resigning. Despite ongoing concerns with his health, he expects to be on the sideline leading the Gators when next season opens.

In an hour he is going to change his mind again and say he is not leaving at all, and will probably be asking for a raise not to mention to be the AD and head coach.

Considering mack brown just got a raise to become the highest paid college football coach, it wouldn't be a big surprise.
