Say you've sent 15-20 evals to a potential pulldown who has given you the backup email. Some come back saying he's in our league and likes us, some come back saying we're still a backup, in no particular order. He still won't take any visits.

Do you pursue with more evals or play the waiting game?

Pursue with the evals. Other thing is make sure you've offered him a scholarship.

The messages mean nothing. When he considers you is when he will be open to visits. Ignore the eval messages. As long as the phone call says back up option, your a back up option until you get a message saying he dropped (a different email) or when he considers you.

okay, thought the messages with the evals gave clues. "out of our league but we're a backup" or "we can get him, he loves us" responses.

Nope, its all the same meaning. Until he considers you you are still a back up and won't get promises/visits accepted.

It just took me 30 evals to pull down the 189th ranked PG with a C prestige.

So Phil, after the 30th eval, did you show up on the kids considering list, or did you get a message on the eval similar to "if we keep at it we can get this kid"?

So, another little question I've thought about is... let's say I throw a bunch (10+) of eval visits into a guy and then, without him getting pulled down, take a few cycles off or spend most of my time and money on other prospects... will he drop to me any earlier than w/o those visits?, and when he drops, I have always thought the visits count for something as well. Is this correct?

lets say 10 to 12 evals works more often then not. should you spend 10 (12) all at once or five (6) and five (6)? ........and if a player is further then 330 miles, but less then 500 miles and you wanted to pull down a player, should you even bother trying? could you pull down a player with less then 10 evals? if so, whats the least amount of evals it took to pull down a player?

Update.....40 evals and the guy never came down.
