I think it's safe to assume that the postseason is where the true level of a coach emerges. Lots of teams don't have the schedules and/or conferences to prove themselves in the regular season. And in addition to that many of the best coaches can sleepwalk their way through the regular season knowing that they've got a decent seed already wrapped up but bring the best once things really matter in the postseason.
So who exposes themselves as a fraud more than anybody else once the games really mean something? I'll go ahead and nominate myself as that coach.
My NT resume is below. I'd argue that nobody finds a way to choke the way I do season in, season out.
| Season | W-L | RPI | Postseason Wins |
| 25 | 19-10 | 47 | 0 |
| 26 | 22-6 | 19 | 0 |
| 28 | 21-10 | 37 | 1 |
| 29 | 27-4 | 4 | 1 |
| 31 | 17-11 | 31 | 0 |
| 32 | 21-10 | 26 | 1 |
| 33 | 27-6 | 11 | 3 |
| 34 | 21-8 | 2 | 1 |
| 35 | 18-12 | 33 | 1 |
| 36 | 26-6 | 3 | 2 |
| 37 | 30-2 | 1 | 2 |
| 38 | 22-10 | 9 | 2 |
| 39 | 25-6 | 3* | 1 |
| AVERAGE | 22.8-7.8 | 17.4 | 1.2 |
* Season 39 still running and RPI will for sure end up worse than it currently is.
