Team A 9

Team b 2

what is your logic, bs?

are you just figuring that there must be an illogical answer in order for me to start a thread?

or does A="9" B="2" seem logical to you?

oh , one more thing that i will add...

teamA 4-0 vs top25 (ranking)

teamB 0-2 vs top25 (ranking)

Assuming the rpi are somewhat close I'll guess a 9-10 for team A and a 6-7 for team B.

W-L records are where the seeds are. I'm guessing 25-4 is ranked highly and 21-7 isn't ranked.

I'm basing it off of what i saw in DI Iba a week ago.

teams that are 25-4 tended to have better seeds, regardless of rpi, than 21-7 teams.

It depends on RPI. Team B is the better seed IMO. I can see team A being as high as a 4 or as low as a 10. I can see team B being as high as a 1 or as low as a 6. Team B to me is clearly the better seed, and likely not all that close. The winning of the CT compared to them not winning the CT + the better record really puts them over the top. All things even winning the CT vrs not winning the CT could easily be the difference of a 1 seed falling to a 3 or 4 seed.

A 8
B 4

FYI Team A RPI 47, SOS 83

Team B RPI 33 SOS 148

This is similiar to me (team A) in my last seeding... so you are a 7-10 matchup?
2/4/2010 10:29 PM
The 21-7 is his team with a 47 RPI. The other team is 25-4 with a 33 RPI. Better record, better RPI, won the CT. Tough to guess the match up, but I think he is probably a 5. You would have to be a 12?
2/4/2010 10:33 PM
yup

a=12

b=5

just seems to me, that based on the evidence, it would be the other way around. Im not triyng to be a hater, and i know im prolly jinxing myself, but how does a team even get into the NT without beating a single team in the top60? And, if they do get in, how in the heck do they rank a #5 seed?

I hope the real life works this way... Cornell a 5seed? I like it!

sounds about right to me

some of you seem to suggest that 7losses is a death sentence that precludes chances at a good seed.

but in tark D1, 7 of the 16 teams that got top4 seeds had 7+ losses. Including Rutgers, which had 10 losses, did not win the CT, and finished second in the slightlyweaker, BigeastWest. Granted, they did sweep my orangedudes, but still.

I think the problem is actually pretty simple, our 9 noncon win were all at home, and all versus very bad teams. VERY bad. I wonder how things would have turned out if most of those 9 games had been on the road, or versus slightly better teams (150ishrpi, instead of 250ish rpi).

of course, i knew that auto-schedule would kill me... i just didnt realize it would be that dramatic. i very nearly missed the NT despite sweeping OR's top25uconn squad and sully's top10 georgetown team (and, as mentioned, winning the best division in the #1rpi conf in D1.)

anyways... thanks for playing

when you guys say, "seems about right"... do you mean that it seems logical and fair?

or that it is consistent with the wa the HD usually works?

does anyone agree that teamA seems the better team?

just curious.

I don't follow RL seedings as close. I can't pull all the info as easy. Based on HD seeds its about right. The RPI, losses, and bad RPI is going to mean a bad seed. You winning the conf doesn't carry much weight and it don't look at it as any better then if you won in the worst. The CT is where it is at. If you won that, you'd be around 8. If he lost his, he would be around 8.

To answer your question as to who the better team is? I don't know, but clearly he had the better season and deserved the better seed. WIS needs to make winning the CT/conf champ in the #1 conf better then winning the CT/Conf in the worst one. Until they do if you dominate in a weak conf and have a good record/decent rpi with a CT you will end up in the top half of the NT no matter how weak your SOS is.
