I am probably going to get trashed for this, but I was thinking about this the other day and wanted to get everyones thoughts..

Everyone complains about two things with the draft..
1) Player projections are way to accurate
2) Unless you get a multiple DITR late round superstars dont exist

What if they changed the draft so that some of the players projections were hidden. This could be chosen at random. Scouting or budgeting would only slightly affect it, as to keep the complexity of a good draft.

What would be interesting is a player like Andrew Greene could have a dramatic change in draft position based on what was available and not available to an owner.. For example if his vL, Power and Eye were hidden he could be considered a sure fire first round pick. If his vR, range and glove were hidden he could be a very late draft pick.

In order for this to work you would also have to hide the projected overall, because in the first situation you would be able to deduct based on a 72 overall that his hidden numbers werent great, or in the second situation you would be able to predict his hidden numbers had some value.

Of course this wouldnt effect everyone, more well rounded players such as Britt McGriff wouldnt see their value change much at all regardless of what was hidden.

What does everyone think?

They have said they want to add a "fuzzyness" to the draft ratings, in order to achieve this.

IMO, every big league team new about A-ROD before the draft, so if their scouting was "0" or "20", a super prospect is a super prospect. Which isnt the case in HBD, I could have 20/20 scouting, and miss out on the top 3 prospects.

The draft is fine as is. No need to make any changes.

I like the way the draft is. Right now, it is set up such that user skill is the greatest part of the equation. All the other changes would just make randomness a bigger part of the equation, which doesn't seem as fun to me.

Every BL team knows about the top 500 prospects. Tell me who they are without spending any budget money and I'll budget 0/0.

Next.

Thats irrelevant to the idea. The idea had nothing to do with how many players you see and how many you dont see. It has to do with the quality of what you see. Every BL team knows about the top 500 prospects, but how accurate are their reports?

As far as ratings, WifS blew it from the get-go(hindsight is always 20/20).

Players should be rated 1-8 in each category, current and projected. Leaves plenty of fuzziness and stop all the "My 71/85/77/88/70 isn't performing as well as his 70/81/68/78/65!! Why????" nonsense.

I was replying to usfbully's post. Your post was too long. I didn't read it.

What about my 7-8-9-6-6 player is getting outperformed by a 7-3-6-6-5 player. It will continue to happen.

i like the idea, i think the draft is bit broke and more randomness needs introduced

More randomness means more luck. More luck just dumbs down the game.

. . . and penalizes those who spend a lot of time in planning for the draft.

I like the way it is except for the fact that no matter how much you spend, there is a possibility that you are not going to see the top picks in the draft. I am sure that every organization knows who Bryce Harper is, but based on how well they scout him determines how accurate they are in his future abilities.

I believe that all the players projected to go in the top 3 rounds or so should be seen by everybody, but there should be even more of fuzziness, which is determined by how much each franchise spends on scouting.
