Chnage of Offense Topic

This is a real "newbie" question, as I have only reserved a team, and NEVER played even the first game. But in looking at my teams ratings versus the "programs" Offense/Defense Philosophy, I have disovered that my team (all AI recruits consists of twelve players(2x C-,2xD-, and 8xF) IO for Fastbreak which is their "stated" offense. Their Defense IQ ratings are breat (1xc+ and all the rest B to A+) using the press. The oddity and question is this, every player excels IQ wise in the FLEX offense.

Would I benifit by changing this programs Offensive philosophy to the Triangle at the fist opportunity since all have better Basketball IQ towards that Offense rather the Fastbreak Offense used in their current 1-24 season?

Yes, I would suggest that you run the offense and practice the offense that your team know best.

How many players are you recruiting?(How many of the current roster are seniors and walkons?)

If you are recruiting six players, as an example, you don't knwo what offense your players know best yet.\

is it triangle or flex? you state their IQ is high in flex and then say triangle. Mostly though, what a said...

what team/world is it you are taking over? I'm sure someone here would be happy to take a look and give you some more specific advice. (That someone of course includes me, but if you are lucky more experienced coaches too - my advice is only worth so much ;-)

I will have no Scholarships year one...4 Juniors, and 8 Freshman....all on Scholarship, no walkon. And I mistyped.....only excellent ratings in the Triangle Offense. If I am reading correctly, all three of you consider it wise to change to the Offense my team has the highest IQ in?

If you have no scholarships, I would stick to which one you have the highest IQ's in.

SO if that is triangle, go with it.

What team is it, tem316?

I might actually look for a player or perhaps two to cut, even if it means you have to take walkons this year to gain a couple of slots to recruit for next year. If this team was simai controlled, it probably has at least two of those freshmen that aren't that good anyhow.

Yeah, that team plays Triangle/Press, not Fastbreak/Press... that their offense was stated as fastbreak is a glitch.

"Roanoke is playing a triangle offense and a fullcourt press (0)."

Makes alot more sense. Wonder how many other "glitches" there were on sign up, as Roanoke would not have been a first choice. I kinda "settled" on them as a team I could try and improve. Easier to improve an AI 1-25 team even as a Rookie (I was thinking, and may not prove as fact).

It is not a glitch. The offense that is listed is the base offense that the team had started with. Since then, coaches had changed the offensive practice from Fastbreak to Triangle, and so what was actually being played is Triangle. But the original base offense for that team was Fastbreak. That is what gets listed, so when looking at a team, the listed offense/defense doesn't always mean something.

The problem with WIS changing that listing, is how do they define what is the current offense/defense. Someone may play one offense while practicing another looking to switch, so that the offense/defense that is being played may not always be the one with the highest IQs.

They list available teams according to the base offense/defense they had when it was originally assigned. It doesn't account for any times that a new coach has come along and switched either or both.

EDIT: Oops, hb beat me to it.
