My center on my MSU team, David Ross, did not pass the final term today.

During the first term, he had a 3.3 GPA with 0 SH Minutes.

In the 1st half of the second term, he dropped to a 1.9 GPA with 0 SH minutes.

In the 2nd half of the second term, he somehow just maintained a 1.9 GPA with 14 SH minutes.

How is 14 minutes not enough to increase .1 GPA...

I had a player actually drop from 1.9 to 1.5 after increasing his study hall by 10 minutes

I've had the drop happen with an increase as well.

David Ross is a party machine either that or he got the wrong cheerleaders to do his homework. heh

I had the exact same thing happen to me this past season tmac. Didn't put any minutes into the guy all season long and at midterms have a 1.9, give him 12 minutes and it stayed at 1.9. Complete BS if you ask me.

I don't think it is BS at all! You guys put no SH minutes in early and than think you can sneak by. Do the right thing and give minutes across the board.

Some kids seem to do ok with 0 SH minutes - IME the ones who I get poor mid-term grades on I put at least 20 sometimes 25 minutes in to be sure they stay eligible.

Makes me wonder if there is anything to the evaluation stuff that says he is not focused on his classes, parties alot, etc. With that said, it is odd that he did have a high GPA for one period.

grades are one of the biggest jokes in hd

If you lose a player to grades you have no one to blame but yourself.

Yep.

I think it's hilarious that someone would start by giving a player 0 SH minutes and then become indignant when they go ineligible.

second.

If it is correct that he was a junior with a 2.18 coming in (looks like he was a transfer), then you shouldve had 10-11 min in study hall the whole season and that wouldve guaranteed that he didn't go ineligible as per the HD players guide. Even at michigan state, you can't get by slacking off the whole semester and then cramming for finals ;)
