I'm a newb and want to know who has had the most success and who is "the greatest"? I know OR is widely respected, but also Billy G has been wildly successful. I only play in Tark so I'd love to know what other coaches have done in other worlds.

I think there's one top tier of coaches, not necessarily one top coach. It has to include, minimum, OR and lostmyth.

From what I've seen it's 3 coaches, OR, Lostmyth and Billyg. Don't think any coach can match the success of those 3.

Rails is probably a notch below that because his success has been, at least from what I've seen, everywhere but the top tier of DI (he did win one championship in DI, that I saw -- and was the runner-up to, but it was with Loyola of Maryland).

Gillispie is very impressive, too, and could be considered in the top tier.

We could certainly bicker over who is second, third, fourth tier, but the top is pretty clear.

Are there any guys who I haven't seen in the forums who could be up there? Also, who is in that top teir? Billyg, LM, and OR? That it?

you always complain that he starts things with you but yet here you are provoking him.

Awesome, now this thread turns into a zhawks, diablo ******* match. Hopefully diablo decides not to say anything, but I think those odds are very slim.

i thought what zhawks said was funny

What coaches have double digit championships? (ignoring the Diablo comment)
2/24/2010 2:59 PM
Yes, I would say that those three are clearly the top tier, as measured by a ridiculous # of championships. Rails was/is awesome, too, but personally I can't quite put him in that group because his titles really came in the lower divisions. (And because he's a Gopher fan.)

There'd be a pretty healthy group of coaches behind them that have very consistent success, commonly make deep runs, etc. but can't match those three when it comes to # of titles.

Not sure if anyone other than those four have double digit titles ... combalt comes to mind as a possibility.

Yeah I can't come to think of any others either. I know there are likely a lot of coaches in the same spot I am, I likely would have had a shot at a few more if I hadn't Le Moyne. You the game for quite a few seasons so that hurts the Overall # of Titles you had a chance for as well.

It is hard to put together totals because of all the aliases coaches use but Oldresorter has 20 titles under that name. I don't know how many he had using Ryan75. Lostmyth2 has 18 titles but again I don't know if he had other titles under other names. Rails has 17 titles, I believe, and Combalt has 10 titles. There are several coaches with 7-8 titles so if they won with other names there may be more than those four.
