Good against ies, bad against righties, an adventure in LF.

Worth a BL spot until his second arb.

Looks like a 1B platoon v LHP. Dime a dozen.

More valuable in the NL where you use pinch hitters more often. Does he bat y or righty? He's slightly more valuable if he hits righty, since you'd want him in there for the righty vs y matchup. Also a good pinch runner with that speed if you have your base stealing aggressiveness at 2 or 1 (BR IQ too low to steal more often than that.

he's the kind of player that I let other people fall in love with, he has value in situations, but with his limited defense i'm not sure he would get the kind of at bats that his overall rating would dictate his salary to be. Worth the roster spot when he is cheap, but needs to be traded before arbitration so you can get best value out of him.

i am being offered this pitcher for him is it a good trade?

by th eway he is a y.. so his good contact and eye will not trump his low vs. righties at all?

Considering he's played 15 seasons, it looks like he's a bit old. I wouldn't make that trade.

If I needed pitching, and I were contending, I trade the LH-mashing LF for an SP like that.

The LH-mashing LF is a bloated overall player because while he's going to have a couple AS seasons, that vR means he struggles in some seasons - like .225/.300/.400 struggles because he hits .180/.210/.300 against RHP. Some season he'll probably hit better than .300 against RHP - but given a large enough sample size, that's just a guy who can't hit RHP consistently and will end up suffering for it.

If his splits were reversed, I would never consider the trade - 60%+ of a world's pitching is RH.

Sometimes it feels like a lot more than 60%. In one of my worlds, my ~70 DUR RHP platoon players are getting really tired, requiring lots of extra time spent on working subs in.

as of now i am in 2nd place at 27-16 i do need another pitcher.

I hear that OE - I always try to look over the AL (or NL) teams right after opening day to check the composition of rotations. In one world, the mix is closer to 50/50, as I have a LH-platoon C who always gets 75 starts, all against LHP. But in other worlds, it can be closer to 75/25, RH.

I wouldn't assume he'll be bad against RHP (of course, depends on what you mean by "bad"). I have a similar player currently at Con:95 Pwr:74 v.L:49 v.R:83, Eye:86.

His weak split is a little better than yours and he faces fewer offhand pitchers than your guy would, but I play him full time and in 2300 AB's he's career avg .290 / .389 / .502, 120 HR's. Last 2 seasons v.L 200AB's/.281/.362/.513 and 174AB's/.287/.383/.534.

Oh, and by the way, he plays half his games in TAC - extreme pitchers park. I would be very careful trading him unless you really love what you are getting back. Your guy will probably surprise you on the upside when he approaches his ratings.

thanks dwoolery that is one reason why i haven't pulled the trigger yet.. i just did do a counter offer for a better younger pitcher, if he declines i will roll the dice and keep him.
