Zero Assists??? Topic

Obviously I have been playing this game a long time, so to have something happen in a box score I've never seen before is quite rare for me...

but last night with my game with Vanderbilt in world 6 we had ZERO assists. Thats right 0. And 17 TOs. We are not some awful team either, our record is 14-3 I believe.

Anyone who defends this sim engine simply has no clue.

Fewest assists, game
3 - Boston vs. Minneapolis, at Louisville, November 28, 1956
3 - Baltimore vs. Boston, October 16, 1963
3 - Cincinnati vs. Chicago, at Evansville, December 5, 1967
3 - New York at Boston, March 28, 1976

In this year's college season, there have been 13 games in which a team had only two assists.

Twice, a team had only one assist....Indiana St. vs LSU on November and Oregon vs. California last Saturday. Oregon also made no FGs in the final 10 minutes.

Having faced your teams many times, vandy, I'm not surprised you had no assists. You tend to recruit players with that 'What?? Me pass?' attitude. LOL

Yeah, guess what...those aren't ZEROS. Also, look at the last time that happened...34 years ago. Statisticians are probably more liberal with assists today than they've ever been...they might have actually been rewarded a bit differently back in the day as well. I can't stand people that try to justify everything when its clear that the sim is flawed in this instance.

cant argue that at times i recruit me first players, but this vandy team doesnt back that up, my starting PG has a 100 rating in passing

Gotta agree with Colonels in this case.

Those look like Pro teams anyway.

they are....there have been 2 college games this season with 1 assist, as allblack pointed out.

that's another one of those WTF games where WIS shows it's downward spiral.

hard to reason those results in that game especially when they have trouble keeping their big men on the floor.

I guess you'll just have to add this to your what I hate about this game list. make room fcp you've got company.

At first I thought it was totally ridiculous ... although hearing there were two RL college games this season w. only one assist kind of changes my feeling on that.

Given that there were only 14 FGMs to get an assist on, I'm not too surprised it's 0.
But your PG and SG have 100 and 95 PASS respectively. I find it hard to believe they weren't able to create good shots for your players.

It's pretty clear that in this engine, assists are sort of windowdressing. If a player scores a basket, I think the PASS of teammates determines whether the engine says "on an assist" or not. And PASS helps reduce # of turnovers. But I don't think we can say it directly helps produce buckets.

context matters, and in this game the context keeps it in the ridiculous realm
