What is up with some of the new crop of players?

A number of times lately have had these guys give me crap about typing GL and GG (like.. "do you really mean it"). I explained that it is part of the coomo0n courtesy of the site...

Also even worse they jump from one player to another. They lose one game and then bolt. Hey, I understand getting mad and then going offline after you lose like 4 in a row to the same guy in frustrating fashion...

but these guys stay online, play someoine else and sometimes you are without an opponent. Without any explanation or common courtesy.

Is it just me or were things a little more condsiderate int he past? ie. If you were playign someone you stayed playing that person until either of you went offline or finished a series. Sure the occassional, "so and so just game online and we have a game due..." happened but that was usually communicated and hey perfectly understandable"

I have also had happen last night, someone said they would be back on in 5 minutes, I said I would wait..(turned down 2 challenges while waiting) I did and then when they came came back they played one and then jumped into another game with no explanation in the middle of our series. I didn't whine or anything, just gl and gg.

Earlier today had someone say I'll be back in 5, I said I would wait. I for 4 minutes (again had two more challenges while he was gone) and when I get back he is playing someone else...

Whatever happened to common courtesy?

Is it just me?

I haven't come across either of those situations lately. But either would sure annoy the heck out of me!

lol..thought this was a league! Why don't you make one sabreclub...we'll take on those young hooligans! 2 old and 2 new in each division!

HatsTHat's actually a good idea. I'll get on it

I stick around and get beaten so bad that my teams' theme song should be Whipping Post.

lol i would so get on teaching the young guns a lesson! Do we have enough newbies to fill the league though? Or are they too scared? :)

I stand corrected. Just had someone gg and bail on a game as soon as I went up by 5 runs in the 8th. Overall though I don't think new players are especially more prone to rude, childish behavior. There are plenty of longtime players who believe that with their brilliance they should never lose a game, and there are plenty of new players who are class acts.

What's the cutoff? Am I old or new? What about kneeneighbor, for example?

You're just an *******.

I have typed gl and gg thousands of times. Shouldn't I just have it assumed that I wish everyone good luck before every game?

Actually I think I was playing LIVE before josh. I may be wrong though. Iplayed back when ox ran the USA league, then when WIS had to change the names of all the players I played HBD exclusivly for a while eventually coming back.

Geez...forgot about that time. Now, that is old school. IF you can remember playing when you weren't allowed to see the players name, but it was just a letter/number combo. That was when they came up with the idea of allowing us to change the rooks names as it was fine with us to change the players to their "real names".

Now, it isn't as old school as when you had to play to play live...that would be ancient school.

Yes I remember hearing about the days when you had to pay to play but that was before me. The leter and number combo names were annoying as hell.

I don't remember player number combos, but I remember when Barry Bonds was 'San Francisco OF'

Player number letter combos were around the spring of 2006. Basicly the MLB had sued saying use of player name and stats for fanasy baseball was not okay because it violated a trademark.

It was squashed in court and the names returned.
