world population data 3/10 Topic

this is the human population data for each division of each world over time. i figured some people might find it interesting. div 1 has 324 teams total, div 2 has 276 teams, div 3 has 384 teams.

a complete list of all the dynasty lists, longest streak lists, and others can be found in the dynasty list index

whoops, i think worlds 2 and 5 are reversed like in that first list i did. just a minute, ill fix that.

ok, i think its correct now :)

ha, pretty obvious when the FREEHD code expired for D3 across each world.

I think tark D3 is at 227 or something close to that now for season 44 thanks to reward points and FreeHD.

And it also shows some people who weren't around then that DIII was full and/or very well populated for a long time before FREEHD was even a twinkle in TK's eye.

I don't know what it really shows. Probably nothing. There are 984 possible teams from which to choose per world. When 5 worlds were open there were 4920 possible teams and now with 10 worlds, there are 9,840 possible teams.

There are currently 4,520 humans playing according to the tables above. That's about the equivalent of 5 worlds.

If 3500 fans pack Benjamin Johnson arena to watch their beloved Wofford Terriers play, you'd say it was packed. If the same 3500 fans, and only those fans, packed Lucas Oil Stadium you'd think nobody was there.

Seems to me it's more the natural process of diffusion (on a world by world basis and overall) and an ultimate state of near-equilibrium.

yeah, i agree, wasn't really putting it up there to show anything. people have talked about wondering about the population over time and it was easy to generate (i already was printing it out for something else). i think it is interesting to see the current levels in each world though. wooden has the most populated d3, and rupp the most populated d2, i figured that was the case from the forum hype but never knew for sure...

I agree, to an extent. Definitely when the two-a-day worlds opened, that had a detrimental effect on the overall population/health of the other existing worlds. But I believe it still shows some meaningful trends with cause/effect.

Great job putting this together along with the plethora of other lists that you have compiled coach_billyg.

Now what in the heck is the something else you would have been printing it for? You scare me.

Rails - have you seen the dynasty lists i've been compiling? it seems like the kind of thing you would find interesting. i mean plenty of others have done it, but a cross-world dynasty list is unique at least to my knowledge. same with cross-era dynasty lists.

anyway, i couldn't just go about it willy nilly and add up the post season success and say "here you go world". i recently won a title in tark d3, practically a ghost town. and i couldn't count that the same as, say, a title when d3 was raging in some worlds a year and a half ago. so, i built a world strength calculator, based on the human coaches at a school and how long they've been there. the world strength for say tark season 15 takes into account the coaching history of seasons 6-15. and, as you might have guessed, my sanity comparison was against the raw count of humans :)

Anyone else surprised that D2 has only been full 4 times? Thoughts on most humans ever in D1 at once being 228?
