The Mad Scientist is Back lol...no ranks Topic

Hey guys...just been mulling this idea over in my head and just want to see what folks think about it.

After seeing that only 228 users have ever been at D1 in 1 world in 1 season, I started thinking about a D1 only world again, but in this fashion. Open another world with 348 D1 teams (the actual 347 IRL +1 of anyone's choosing). The "filling" process will be conducted on a first come, first served basis, however you would have to purchase a 10-pack to get into this world, using all 10 seasons for this world, and the world wouldn't begin until it was absolutely full at 348 human users. To make this beneficial to WIS as well, I propose no reward points for these first 10 seasons, and in turn, no firings either. WIS makes $3500...we get a log jam of great coaches all in D1 v. all human users thus we can really see who the best of the best is. I would also like to see WIS make all teams virtually equal at the get go, to make it as fair and appetizing to as many users as possible. So the main deal is you're locked into 10 seasons of this D1 only world...

Thoughts?

"After seeing that only 228 users have ever been at D1 in 1 world in 1 season"

What does this mean?

Unless there was complete, 100% floating prestige with no ties to the real world, it seems totally unappetizing. And to be honest, even with that, it's not a good idea. I'd vastly prefer that WIS spend their time and resources on getting everything right with the nuts-and-bolts of the game, and history shows that opening new worlds has a detrimental effect on the health of existing worlds.

So it might make sense in a utopia, but not in the currently existing HD.

Just out of curiosity, what difference does it make if this is a D1, D2, D3 world outside names of schools since you're asking for a world where everything is equal?

Why don't these coaches just do this in a current world at D3?

Ahhh, thanks for the post. The quoted comment was in reference to coach_billyg's post about yearly participation in each world at each division.

I would really push for team equality here at the start...maybe WIS could allow you to choose your Offense and Defense and they'd generate a roster based off of that...same schollies...virtually same teams across the board in season 1.

Nice. So true.

Reminds me of that scene from "Good Will Hunting":

Skylar: Maybe we could go out for coffee sometime?
Will: Great, or maybe we could go somewhere and just eat a bunch of caramels.
Skylar: What?
Will: When you think about it, it's just as arbitrary as drinking coffee.

Because D1 is sexier...people know most/all of the D1 teams and most people's favorite colleges are from the D1 level, thus I say why not do it at the highest level, get the best players, etc.

I still don't get it.

But I'm thinking that you didn't mean what you wrote ... you wrote Season 1, when of course there are no humans at all in DI in Season 1 of any world. I'm thinking that you meant to say that there haven't been more than 228 humans in DI in any particular season?

I said 1 season dalt, not season 1...just clarifying.

Yeah, realized it was my bad, deleted right after I posted.

colonels, we've had a DIII world completely full on many occasions. So other than the "sexiness" factor that you mention (sorry, but it gives me the creeps to see you use that word), we wouldn't be accomplishing anything new. And we'd still be hurting the existing worlds.

Sorry for the word usage, but sometimes it just fits. Thank you for your input though.

Lol, no worries.

But am I missing something? What would this be accomplishing that the many full seasons at DIII (I'm talking before FreeHD) didn't?
3/28/2010 12:19 PM
Maybe because I've only ever scratched the bottom of DI- what makes that any better or worse than making a big push to fill up DIII or DII in a world?

As for the best of the best, you're assuming the best of the best get lined up in the first 25 minutes that world fills- not people like me that are average at best.

We all had to make it to high level D1 the hard way. So should everyone else. The last thing I want is having to coach and recruit against a ton of coaches who have no idea what they are doing. You start out in D3 for a reason. To learn.
